Hi chaps, I just wondered if anyone knew this car. Bit leggy but it’s not £100k.

https://www.ashgood.co.uk/vehicle-details/Used-Porsche-911-Carrera-S-Coupe-For-Sale-U1112

It may well be gone by the time I visit next month but I think I’ll call in anyway, as they’ve a few things that fit the bill usually. Air or water cooled.

Cheers. Thumb

If you are seeking a 993 you may be aware long term owner, Mohitos, listed his car on this forum earlier. His spend on the car is frankly eye watering. You be seen that car in the metal. It’s one of the best 993’s I’ve ever seen. Totally mint, likely better than new. Right colour and spec as well, save the widely over valued, wide body premium.

I’d be PM ing him if I wanted a 993.

Hi Highway,

Ok thanks. I’m not actively seeking a 993, just anything interesting so 964, 993, 996 GT3 or Boxster Spyder. As long as they are manual and rear wheel drive.
Budget is £50k private, £60k max at a dealer as things are easier with specialist finance rather than standard bank loan, etc.

I’ve got a feeling Mohitos car will be more than £50k?
Plus if it’s standard body wise they don’t do much for me. Wide body or RS parts are a must for me. Daft maybe, but the standard jelly mould shape just doesn’t float my boat. nooo

Thanks. Thumb

Looks like a decent car at a good price. All about the service history and a thorough inspection of the key areas. Also a realistic budget for remedial work in the first 12 months.

Best of luck with it

Yes it looks decent value and is obviously manual and RWD, both must haves for me.

Hopefully it may still be there in 2 weeks time when I go down.
The white Spyder there is perfect spec apart from it has the wrong seats so that’s out.
I’m in no mad dash, as if I buy the wrong car it won’t be easy to sell on in the current climate. I need to be absolutely sure when I decide.

Thanks.

Looks a nice car, cheap for a 2wd wide body. Ashgood are decent too (actual experiences).

I like blue although I have seen it referred to as a doom colour. I also like the grey interior - not as in have to have one but they do lighten up what is quite a small cabin. Sports seats are nice to have too.

The steering wheel would be on eBay if it were mine, and the stereo in the bin, and that front splitter with it. I’d also get Hercule Poirot to look it over.

If it is any help, I’ve owned a Spyder also and thought it was a great car. Purposely bought one without buckets as for me and my useage sports seats are better. Roof is fun on them, especially with it on and the rear section out. Handling superb, quirky looking. Not a 911 though, and let’s face it proper 911s are air cooled.

Evenin’ Zingers. bye

Hi Ty,

Yep there’s nothing I’m really opposed to on it. I love that colour especially when detailed. Interiors look a bit nicer in black. Black feels a touch more sophistimocated, puh
I had grey in my 964T though and grew to quite like it. Nice and airy.

I’ve spent a good amount of time in Spyders. Two of my mates have owned both models. One of them just picked up this one last weekend.

I can’t stretch to a 981 but would be happy with a 987.
Spyder wins hands down for this year as I’ve my euro tour in August. I can’t let that 3 week trip decide what will hopefully be a forever car though.
I’d really love to do the trip in a Spyder though but seeing how long things are sticking around for at the moment, I wouldn’t buy one with a view to changing again after my trip.

Air-cooled are my favourite to look at, listen to and drive at road speeds but the GT3s offer that bit more when in full on banzai mode. Grin

I’ll put together a list to view in a fortnight and see which one excites me the most.
I thought the above car might be known on here but if not, then a bit more careful inspection will be required.

I can’t be doing with a project though, so whilst I expect to spend a bit more after initial purchase I don’t want a wallet hoover. Wink

Spyder is best on that front. Newest out of all my options and I can even get Porsche warranty if I want.

Anyway thanks for your thoughts. Thumb

22 years old and 128k miles... less than 6k miles a year on average and you think its "leggy" Floor

Cracking price for a WB even if it is in doom blue.

Tom who works for Ashgoods is a mate of mine for over 20 years .
He brought that 993 along to the “out east” PCGB meet the other week.
Was a lovely example . He said it drives beautifully.

PM me if you want, I can ask him on the side if there is a deal to be done

Hand No need. A Colini Stick will tell you everything you need to know.

On the Spyder front I very nearly bought a 981 last year but they accepted a dealer bid 20mins before I said I would have it. That car in yellow with 18-way seats (the best), sat-nav but NO AC is up at an OPC for substantially more than they paid. I reckon a bid in the low 60s would buy it (given what they paid) as most are put off by the absence of AC. Thought long and hard about that but figured for so little use mostly with the roof off I could live without it.

Tom at Ashgood is a great guy, very genuine and I'd buy a car from him no problem.

Hi all

This is my pal’s car. I have seen it and driven it many many times.

It’s only up for sale as he stumbled on a deal for 71 car car that was too good to miss and only has the garage space for the one car.

The car has just been centre of gravity’d at great expense! Polishes up a treat. Interior is tired in places but it’s all patina.

I would have bought this car in a heart beat but I’m in a 993 C2 so the change didn’t seem worthwhile.

Thanks for the info and replies lads.

Cable guy - Yep I class over 100k as leggy. Regardless of age. I don’t discount cars instantly though as long as they offer good value.
My daily banger Volvo estate, just clicked over 193,000 on my to work tonight but I’ll need to weigh up whether I can live with 100k+ on a keeper/weekend toy. Wink

Stuttgart it is a lovely looking thing isn’t it.

Thanks for that askgeez. I’ll just chance it still being there on the 13th when I plan to visit. Best thing is to just view it I think. Thumb

Hi Zingers.
It looks a decent buy but the yellow is marmite (I love it mind) and the no aircon and no buckets will make it a tough sell if I don’t keep it for long. I doubt it would be a forever car the 981.
Great cars but just don’t stir the emotion.
If I buy a car that I don’t gel with it could cost me £10k by the time I sell it.

Cheers C&H, it sounds like a decent setup etc. They’ve a few things usually in stock that are on my shortlist eg, 911s, 987 Spyder etc. I look forward to visiting. I’ll call the guys there in a week or so to make myself known and check Saturday viewings are suitable.

Will be doing Ashgood, RPM, Autostore, plus any others that appeal by then. Thumb

Hi Nick thanks for the info.
Yes the seats look a bit “false” in the pics I guessed they’d been dyed or something.
I need to view it and see exactly how it’s been maintained eg bare minimum or pampered. Anything like scuttle rust, a clutch, oil leaks, worn seats and things could end up costing a lot and whilst I’m usually totally up for that I may not have the time before my holiday to sort it all.

Hi Jin, as above thanks for recommendation. I’ll just view it and ask all my questions then.

In summary it’s one of 4 main contenders that I plan to view.
I had thought when I saw it last night that it was a new car to the market so I was gonna dash to ring up today but it turns out it isn’t and the market is still pretty flat so I’ll just be patient and view it in a fortnight.

Viewing this this weekend if seller is about.

http://rpr626.co.uk/porsche-cars-for-sale-by-peter-richardson-at-rpr626-specialist-cars/1995-porsche-993-carrera-2-rs-replica-6-speed-manual-coupe/nggallery/thumbnails

I’ve mentioned it in here before and have sold to Peter at rpr about it but I didn’t want to waste his time as no aircon. However if it’s a nice car I may overlook the air con thing.
Some folk say it’s over priced which may be right as it’s been for sale for years but when I’ve been watching the market no decent C2 manual coupe is less than £40k ish.
Given that it has a lot of the mods I’d want to do I don’t think it’s too bad. KWs, LSD, RS kit.
Seats are pants and veloce wheels aren’t great but will do for now.

Then on the 13th year are the main contenders. Pros and cons to each one.

Anyway thanks gents. I’ll update what the verdict is once I view the C2S.

Thanks very much. Thumb
