New splitter, cut, wrapped and fitted

Needed to replace my mangled and cracked splitter, I had bought the original one off eBay and made the mistake of buying a non Porsche item (the guy was suggesting it was an original Porsch one), it was a pig to fit and not a great finish, needed a load of work to trim it an paint it! Looked fine once it was done but only lasted about a year before one too many speed bumps ripped it off and cracked it. Hasn't been looking too pretty being held together with duck tape

Anyway, whilst having the car serviced at Porsche Silverstone I though I would just check it the price of a new splitter, £104 +vat  double checked the price as I was sure they had got it wrong! Turned out it was correct but the motorsport item rather than the standard one, I didn't expect the finish to be great but when I picked it up I was surprised it was not too bad at all, and certainly better than the dodgy one I'd bought off eBay for £180!!!

Now my car is lowered I have trimmed the splitter down by about 16mm to give it a chance of lasting more than a few days and instead of painting it have had a go at carbon wrapping! Bought a roll of 3D wrap and gave it a go, tested out on a few bits of trim first and wasn't over confident, the carbon 3D wrap is a bit thicker than normal wrap and is difficult to work around tight contours!

Took a while to get the hang of it and it isn't as good as I would like, but quite happy with the first attempt! Was worried it might look a bit naff but now it's on I don't think it looks too bad at all! Have plenty left for another go if it comes away and might have a go with a few other bits too :?:

Needs a lot of heat, pulling off and redoing on the curvy bits!

Rob , thats a nice job and the wrap should extend its life a bit :thumb: defiantly better than the ebay lip that never fitted properly :thumb: :thumb:

Cheers chaps :thumb:

Was a bit worried in might look a bit pants, but I think its not a bad substitute for painting and quite cheap too! Only £20 or so for a 3m x 0.5m roll and have loads left :?:

Tried it on the sill cover that I keep scuffing with my feet!

10 minute job :thumb:

Will see how it holds up on the splitter, if it lasts, next time I do it I might use some pukka 3M wrap!

Excellent shout using it on the sill cover!

I might just have to copy that. :thumb:

:thumb: Nice work amigo :bandit:

Well done Rob!

I installed a 991 splitter on my 997.2 using an adaptor kit out of the US and so far so good...but always looking for good alternatives.

I'm not sure which splitter this is and presumably it only fits the 997.1 which I believe you have.

Nonetheless, are you able to advise the type of splitter (GT3/Aero or whatever), whether it will also fit a 997.2 and the PN...so not asking much

Thanks in advance !

Cheers :thumb: This definitely will not fit a 997.2! I can check the part number if needed?

Thanks but in that case don't worry about the Part Number.
