Gmund

Hi this is the first time I've posted, but I saw the reference to Gmund and thought I'd offer details of my experience.

I bought a 996 C2 tipS from Andy Mearns at Gmund almost exactly 2 years ago.

I paid the full advertised price for the car which was in excellent condition. Prior to buying he supplied me with the owners manual, service documentation and paperwork, which he allowed me to take home for the weekend to review. He then answered any questions I had following reading the service history.

He took me for a drive in the car and then allowed me to take it to a neighbouring garage RPM, an independant Porsche servicing establishment based within the same small industrial unit. They, in effect, conducted a free inspection of the car, putting it on their diagnostics and ramps etc, and they gave me a list of items which in their opinion needed attention or may have needed attention in the near fututre. These items included a new exhaust system!, although I couldn't detect anything wrong with the one fitted.

In summary Andy agreed to have all the work done, and I subsequently received an invoice from RPM for the work done which was not inconsiderable. This ensured the car I was buying was in really good shape.

I have owned the car 2 years, do about 5,000 miles per year and have had no issues whatsoever. The car has been serviced twice at RPM, and has had interim MOT and oil changes. I occasionally pop back to see Andy for cleaning items and he is always friendly and knowledgable.

I would personally recommend his etablishment.

Gmund

I saw this thread on the forum and wondered if anyone had a more recent update on their experience with Gmund cars?

Andrew sold my 997 turbo in consignment in November of 2013 and after more than 12 months has failed to remit the total amount due to me for the sale. Are classic Porsche car dealers struggling to sell cars?

Has anyone had recent and similar experience with Gmund cars? It seems strange as I have dealt with Andrew for a number of years. Unfortunately I am living outside of the UK just now and I have limited knowledge of how the classic Porsche market is in the UK and are dealers struggling to sell cars?

Most dealers cars are flying out of the door, especially turbos.

If he owes you money go get it.

Have you spoken to him about this?

Why leave it 12 months?

Heard a few stories, and a car they had on SOR was not actively marketed and I think I know why which was not in the owners favour..........I will offer you xx for it as it does not seem to be shifting !
That is just my opinion but I suspect I am not far from the truth.
Tread carefully, and definitely avoid any of the "Porsche Specialist" in Scotland as it will be a very sorry story.

I looked at the white 930 Turbo they had at the Classic Show at the NEC last year. It has rotten inner wings, and presumably rotten kidney bowls too. They didn't mention this until I pointed it out.

The main man has more patter than a Chinese army in flip flop's, never heard a good thing about him. Apparently his wife is a solicitor and forever bailing him out especially on SOR deals, where he sells the car and then you have to fight him to get the cash.

RPM are round the corner from him and they have a decent reputation.

I know of someone who sold him a car, he was warned not to even think about putting on his trailer before cash was in the bank.
He actually paid up before collection.
He is on the same estate as RPM.
Cars are expensive for what they are, seen a few overpriced cars but to be fair some where nice cars.
