Creaking windscreen

I had the horrible creaking/squeaking screen problem too, I just had the windscreen replaced for the £75 excess it cost on the Insurance it was the best money I could have spent. I also timed the fitting of the new screen to coincide with a service so it was done at a Porsche specialist who could ensure the guy who came out to was guided on how to do it properly!.
nice new screen, no noise at all anymore.
Of course I don't condone anyone making cracks in their windscreen on purpose :judge: :floor:

Hi Guys - I got some of this 'Pedro's Ice Wax' today. This may seem a daft question - but where do you put it?
Do you pull the top seal out and just run some in there?

My creaking actually sounds like it comes from the inside...?

Anyone done this?

Screen creaking

Andy, gently raise the outer seal (the side away from the glass) and squeeze the wax under. You will need to go from one side to the other and put a good amount in. Because I was fittting a new outer seal I put wax all around the screen however it is always the lower edge that causes the creaking. My first dose of wax, prior to the new seal was just in the centre lower part adjacent to the wipers and that immediately stopped the noise.

Cheers Allan :thumb:

I was sceptical at first....

I took the car for a drive and it's 16 degree today so quite warm. The creaking is still there and bloody annoying.

Got home and applied a liberal dose of Pedro's and went straight out again.

Amazing!

Quiet as a mouse - not a squeak. Brilliant stuff

If, like mine, your 993 has that annoying creaking noise coming from the windscreen, my take is, if at all possible, get Paul from Glasstec to work his magic and don't waste time on Pedro's wax, rubber ropes or other stuff.

Paul started on mine today shortly after 9am and finished well past 2pm. Job involved removing screen, thoroughly cleaning, addressing problematic areas, sanding, and prepping, applying adhesive on screen rather than body, removing old seals and putting everything back into place as it should be. He knows his way around dashboards and doesn't hesitate to extend length of job if there's anything that's not up to his exacting standards (serial number little plate was slightly off and he removed some dashboard parts again just to correct that).

I can't imagine many people spending the better part of 6 hours to remove / refit a windscreen. Absolutely cracking guy. Up there with the Alpinairs, Enigmas, etc., IMO.

I think I need to get mine done, can I ask you what the cost was? If you get a moment can you DM me. Thanks

Do try the Pedro Ice Wax, much, much cheaper than removing screen etc, it is available on ebay for around £10-12 for 100ml, that's plenty.
I applied to my screen last March (2019) and a tiny bit since and the screen still does not creak.

Thank you, I will give that a go first. It's driving me nuts the noise - all coming from the passenger side.

Ordered some Pedro's Ice wax and so far so good on a 70 mile trip.

Brilliant but!! Now I hear the other creaks which need tracking down!
