Word of warning... 'Modern Classic Car Co' ROGUE TRADER

Do not trust these two. I repeat do not trust them.

The photos are taken at:-
Carbeth House
Killearn

This rather imposing mansion has been converted into apartments. One of the brothers, Mark Heron, appears to live there. The other (presumably half) brother, is Stephen Boag.

They are not linked in any way to Border Reivers.

I am interester to see a newbie's first post being one like this.
Wondering what history you have and have you been burned?

Yes Tobyone I have had dealings with these clowns. I'd rather not give detail.
IMHO there are a pair of shameless crooks. Other members of family probably involved. Sylvester seems to run the ebay account.

They play off each other so you never know which of Mark or Stephen you are dealing with. They bullshine and bamboozle victims into submission.

Initially they politely engage with concerns - then the aggressive and arrogant denials, and then silent treatment.

Stay away people!

more of a mystery how mr ebay does not know of them :bandit:

so then the Modern Classic Car Company

so their picture are clever the cars are not, dont be fooled by them, as they aren't traders, since it has been proved in a court case that they have false trade paperwork

Good luck to you Saab9000. It probably makes no difference to Boag or Heron whether they are selling a dud or a goodun. Some of them will be randomly good. They just want your money and no doubt they will offer all the assistance they can to get you to part with it. The issue is when it's a dud or there is something else wrong with the deal. Their true nature is then on view and frankly they could not care less it seems.
A look though Boag's entries with companies house makes interesting reading. https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/search?q=Stephen+Boag
His fb shows what he looks like and that he studied law; whether he achieved a BA is less clear.

Mark Heron was maybe bored of ripping people off in January and he kindly posted a picture of Carbeth House where he lives.

His various companies make interesting reading.

The impression here is that these companies are set up to limit their personal liabilities. This is of course quite legal but doesn't mean that in their case it doesn't stink.

Saab9000 looks like you dodged the bullet a bought a rogue 'good' car from these guys. Glad it's worked out for you, for me I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole, neither would any of my local Porsche friends

Chaps, I was doing my background research on The Modern Classic Car Co after seeing a car with them and came upon this thread. I liked the look of the car so much that I contacted Stephen anyway and had several chats with him about it.

I can't comment on the bad experiences that others have had but I've bought a 968 from Border Reivers many years ago and I've bought a 924 Turbo from Stephen recently too. He also sold the 924 Turbo for me. I tend to buy a good few cars a year (call me silly) and have a few 911's, 944/968's as well as M cars. I'm from 'daan saaf' (Londoner).

My experience was very pleasant and speaking to Stephen on the phone several times has been good fun as we've spoken about cars we like etc.

I think the main thing to learn from this is don't buy a car until you see it. If you buy it blind then what can you expect? I've done it before and there have always been items I've missed.

I am not saying rush out now and buy cars from him but I'm relaying my experience as others have. I've dealt with many of the Porsche specialists in England and I had nothing more and nothing less from Stephen. His knowledge is rather good and I made sure that we had all agreements in emails and he stayed true to them.

Oh and the 968 from Border Reivers was good too! Had no problems with the car or with the sales process.

Maybe as you say @grbspeedster, I was also lucky but I think Stephen is a good guy. He allowed for a few items that weren't quite as they should have been too.

If I was anyone else I would view any car they have that might be of interest and just go through the buying process as one should. Independent inspection, proper check on the paperwork, everything agreed in writing. Its hard to buy a lemon from anyone if those items are done right?

Just my two pennies worth.

Regards,
Amir

Amir and saab9000 glad your both happy with your purchases. Must apologise for the forum for not welcoming you as newbies. I'm sure you will get a warm welcome when you attend events with your new purchases in the future. Lots going on in London area , Ace cafe etc , make yourself known I'm sure you will get a warm welcome
For me still wouldn't touch Modern Classics with a barge pole, all have own opinions :welcome:

pearlmica, can you provide a link to the car bought

in the same way we validate bad feedback we also need to ensure these new users posts are valid and not a fake profile courtesy of Stephen Boeg

since "Saab9000" post or alleged purchase couldn't be validated and will shortly be removed as a fake

It's a bit irrelevant that someone once bought a car from these Guys and it was okay.....
In my eyes there is huge difference sharing our view / experience / interaction on either an established independent or an OPC versus a bunch of people who seem fit to stretch the law and fail to even trade on the same virtual address ?

Tell me the last time an OPC tried to sell a car then change address or an established Indy tried to mock up a car and try to sell it as another model ! :?:

Seem like a bunch of gits to me :hammer:
