Died of a pulmonary embolism, days before the start of the new F1 season.
Only 66 Surprised

Lots of warm tributes on social media, generally well liked.
Bet he had a great life though

Just heard the sad news on breakfast tv.
So very sad, no age either!
I am sure he has had a very exciting career and has been at the sharp end of driver safety for a long time. He was getting ready for the new season so doing what he enjoyed so that a small comfort.

Thoughts with his family, friends and the wider F1 community who will all have known of him.

R.I.P Charlie

One of the pioneers who rose to a top position as part of Bernie's transformation of F1. Hugely popular in the F1 Circus - great technical skills combined with warm and friendly persona.

He certainly did a lot for F1 and will be a loss to the sport but I have always maintained that he should have brought out the safety car much earlier which would probably have saved Bianchi's life.

I will never understand why he failed to act on that terrible day but that's just my view.
