996.1 cab C2 manual

All getting a bit "specialist" here ! I think your photos are not nec in the right chronological order. Look at the shape of the top of the headrests for clues.

I've never seen a 964 RS with the trampoline base - I think these only came in with the 993 and later 968 CS.

The seat with the crest is the one that came in the 964 Cup and 964 RS Clubsport and is the narrower SPG with the squarer top to the headrest. The textured material on the wings also changed over time - I think that is a really early version from a Cup Car c. 1990 (ie pre the 964 RS) also lacking the plastic trim-ring around the lap-belt slots - you can see the fabric has come unglued.

Not sure what the seats on the pool table are - not seen that ribbing before, and given the square top to the head-rest, they don't look like the regular 964/993 RS seat - my guess is that they are the narrower SPG type again.

I've also never seen any version of these seats in anything later than a 993.

This is all from my own observations of cars I've owned and others I've nosed round over the years.

Either way if you're going for a Profi SPG it's narrow. If that's what you want, then go for it, it's a very good seat !

And, there are also this style, and I'm not entirely sure where they fit:

I may be straying into speculation here, but I don't think the yellow 993 Clubbie has the correct seats. To me they look like seats from a 968 CS. The Clubsport cars (I think) only came with one seat for starters, and it was generally the nomex-covered SPG. The fabric on those 993 seats look like the cloth from the 968 CS (which I believe was exclusive to that model).

The fully black leather seats look like the yellow backed ones in the 968 pic. If you look carefully at the picture, I don't think you can see the lower "X" bracing lower down the seat back, though it could just be the angle of the picture.

I checked old pics of my 964 RS and they were def like the very first picture you posted (as were my 968 CS seats).

If I had to hazard a guess, the seats without the X brace are the slightly later model from later 968 CS and 993 RS with the trampoline base.

that still leaves me stumped as to what the ones on the pool table are.....

ETA - Speedster could be a good shout - pretty sure they were trampoline based too.

I think this is all getting hugely confused by 25 years of people taking seats out and putting them in different cars, then trying to claim originality !

looking more carefully at the pictures (partic side of passenger seat) I don't think the yellow 993 Clubbie seats have the lower X brace, so look more like the yellow 968 seats, which backs up my theory that they are not the right seats for the car.......

I 100% agree with this.

Ultimately I'm not sure, but I think I'm certain enough that I'm happy that the choice I've made is consistent with the rest of the car.

On a different note, I have been thinking of going to the 17" Fuchs, what do people think they'll look like, good, bad?

Photoshop!

Do they not make 18" wheels?
I think black Fuchs with the petals/rims in silver would look lovely on your car. BTW your cars side profile on the trailer looks set on. :thumb:

A very personal choice, but to my eyes the silver petal Fuchs just don't look right on a "modern". I think they need to be black centred with anodized / diamond-cut rim, and ideally with a nice amount of dish on the rears.

I have the Group 4 Fuchs reps in 18" on mine and think they look great. My C2 is road-only, so I'm not bothered that they're fairly heavy.

Are there any available in 17" with the right sort of offset ?

JZM sell them in 17" at the correct offsets, 205 fronts and 255 rears.

Bit spendy, although not too bad - although JZM do the number one thing that winds me up which is to quote a price, then reveal that they need to add VAT right at the end of the discussion/when you are about to order, which frankly makes me want to buy from someone else.

Unsure if these are 17 or 18, but they look good I think:

I think they look like 18" That's only a guess based on what my17's look like.
Mine are made by Braid.

17" wheels may be lighter than 18".

But, the offset may need adjusting with spacers, adding weight. Also the thicker tyre wall adds more rubber, adding weight. The wheel weight website (sorry don't have the link to hand on my mobile) handily quotes tyre weight for different 17" and 18" tyres. 17's aren't lighter as you may expect.

Obviously tyres will affect the moment of inertia more than the rims.

Neil, I can help with pics if you want. I have 18" Otto Fuchsfelage.

Cheers
