I''m back in a 911!!!.. 996 C2 project begins.

Nice! I love it over there.

Well my turn to put mine up for sale next. Gonna try and get a listing on here and Fleabay tomorrow.

Not confident of a sale but I'm really not bothered. A sorted 996 really does offer a cracking 911 experience.

Well done on the 914 mag feature. :thumb:

Nice drive Ady. We're very lucky up here to have such a great area for driving. And such fine cars to do it in.

Oil change today.
Filter was totally clean of any debris and the oil was clean also.
My local accessory shop did me 10 litres of oil and a filter for £37.50.
Gotta love northern pricing.

Down South they have something called VAT.......whatever that may be

Well you've taken one option off the table for me then

Yeah despite warning from mates (one still has a Vantage) I was having a sly look at the V8Vs (along with F types), but they are by all accounts a wafter not a focussed B road blaster.

What's your thinking now then Kas? I was hell bent on changing and I've had a guy on all week wanting mine but now it's crunch time I'm genuinely struggling to say yes take it. :dont know:

I think all 3 of us have the same dilemma at the moment.

Who'da thought the 996 would have so much love :dont know:

I'm getting to the point I've started looking at £50k cars and nothing makes me feel like I'm going to be climbing into a hotter seat :nooo:

Too right that's where I'm at (a bit over £50k actually) with deal agreed but I'm 50/50 on pulling out of it all.

My buyer is a nice guy who's been in touch most days since last week but tonight he's begun quibbling over the £18k minimum I'll take, which I made clear at the start.

I totted up mine at the weekend. I've spent £16k+ on top of the £13k purchase, so £29k!! So I've restored the car with all the best bits, for the next owner at a loss of £11k to myself.

Sellers of the new car are ok but I'm just questioning the whole deal.
I think I might message my buyer in the morning and just say we'll leave it.

The replacement car is £37k on top of my C2! So I'm as happy to leave it as I am to buy it I think. Especially when you add my £11k loss.

Sorry for hijack Ady, I should have put this in my own thread actually, but I know me, you and Alex are in the same boat.
Very interested to see what you do next. :thumb:

Mark,Alex I just can't part with this 996 for now.
When an Aston specialists says that you need a 4.7 if you want it to feel like your Porsche then you know you are probably already driving the right car.
With an increased budget comes increased expectation but sadly I don't think this is delivered pro rata.

Its all marginal gains and laws of diminishing returns.

Thing is 996 (and 986) are so undervalued you have to spend an awful lot more for something that will do what it does any better. And then you will worry about parking it anywhere.

Marky you are mad to sell that car, should be well over £20k and would probably be a lot more on the forecourt of a dealer.
