4 years on. What now ?

That's one of several that have been on the market for several months. If I'd sold mine I might have viewed it by now but, although it's been reduced by £3k since I first noticed it, it's still beyond what I'd be looking to spend.
If you're expecting people to make offers £7k below what your car is asking, then you should also feel comfortable to do the same to someone else??

Similarly if someone was looking to spend c£50k on such a car at a specialist I'd expect them to show an interest in cars advertised at up to £55k.

Anyone who tracks the market constantly knows the 991 market hasn't actually collapsed!
Decent (basic) 991S are still sitting rigidly around the 55k mark (screen price) (in winter in the worst market for years) there not going to be taking a dramatic dip anytime soon, perhaps even the opposite coming into spring. Low milers are 57k + minimum.

I have seen several 991's moving / listed privately at under £48k recently. This also seems to be reflected in recent dealer cars. IMHO the 991 still has a way to go down and could start to hurt 997 Gen2 cars... but that's just my opinion!

Were the private cars 3.8's :?: Even if they were I'd expect them to be 10% cheaper than dealer cars.

Regarding the 2 Dove House cars, 1 is sub-£50k because it's done 61k miles and the other at £53k is typical of a 53k mile car and (imo) ott given that interior colour.

If somebody offered me £7k less than my car was advertised for my response to them would contain two words.

Similarly, although I would go to see cars advertised at 10% above what I'm hoping to pay, I'd need a significant reason to start with an offer that low for fear that it would be an equally short conversation.

It' s often said that 'absence makes the heart grow fonder' and, after nearly 6 months apart, I'm starting to realise that this might be the case for me and 'Red'. The main reason for me deciding to change in the first place was that after nearly 4 years and over 21k miles the time just felt right. It wasn't an easy decision to make and it took quite a while for me to come to terms with it.

Perhaps fate is keeping us together. :dont know:

Tomorrow is a big day - and I have to admit that I'm starting to get a bit excited - as after several months apart we'll be reunited when I take her for a Major Service and MOT.

Since we last met I've driven a 981 Cayman S, 991 Carrera, 991 Carrera S and 991 Carrera GTS so it will be interesting to see how the old girl compares.

Am I the only one that thinks the bi-spoilered 991 looks like a Halfords special. For me its one or the other, but not both.

My, probably unwarranted, input. Red is a 'special' car, rare and with performance to spare. It is not likely to drop much in value however many miles you pile on, and you know it is a good starting point. Why not spend a bit on a few personal, reversible, mods and enjoy the ride.

The 991 C2S is by most standards an exceptional car, but by Porsche standards is fairly ordinary. Plenty of them about. The 992 may cast a financial shadow over them for a year or two and will be mileage sensitive.

Wonderful dilemma to have though.

Carbon buckets and fruity exhaust - both of which can be sold on separately come sale time?

Your input is very much appreciated John. Thank you. :thumb:

If I keep 'Red' she will remain standard apart from the DSCv1 I ran her with last summer. There aren't any mods that I would want to make other than perhaps some RugerMesh or BBS wheels.

The renewal of acquaintance went very well this morning. 'Special' is probably the best single word to describe a 997T.

TheFinn was selling a set last week which may still be available?

You aren't I quite like the ducktail that quite a few cars were specced with...the additional spoiler is definitely not a good addition!

Being a tad mature now, I did at least spend some time as a CARsonova, when MUCH younger, and when a mistress begins to feel like a comfortable wife, it might indeed be time for a change... :floor:

Of course I am talking cars here... he adds quickly... just in case. :judge:
