4 years on. What now ?

Well Terry heres my 2p mate

997 turbo = genuine supercar with known history and iconic engine and in a proper Porsche colour.

991 C2S :dont know: :?:
buying at the lower end your probably even going to have to settle for an everyday colour

Personally unless you saw a special car a bit like SBSP Yellow with a power kit , I really would be holding on to the Turbo. and leave the cash in the bank.

I dont think this is alot of miles and if your car is in mint condition i would buy your one over less miles but not in great condition. not sure why every body is bothered about miles it,s got 70k on it

Terry, you have a very nice problem to be thinking about.

Whatever you decide, there is no bad outcome.

I think you will be waiting a long time to sell for £50-55k. If the price was £45-50k, it would probably be sold by now. However that would increase your cost to change to £13k, which may not be justifiable in your mind.

Agreed. The mileage isn't a big deal to me however to someone like Spongebob, it's unsellable :floor:

Cheers Ben.

I took the view that, for a private sale, pricing it at somewhere between trade and retail would be fair - especially given the long OPC Warranty on the car. My £49,995 'asking price' was only a starting point for negotiating a sale.

Similarly if someone was looking to spend c£50k on such a car at a specialist I'd expect them to show an interest in cars advertised at up to £55k. There's always deals to be done on trade-in prices, paying in cash or taking out finance.

The £7k 'cost to change' I'd anticipated was based on £48k vs £55k.

Hi Terry, I'd be tempted to run it for the Spring and see if the market picks up over the next couple of months. Don't think going from just under 70k to just over is going to make a difference in the long run to a buyer. As it is they'll be thinking it's a 70k mile car by the time they drive it home. If it's just over 70k they'll be thinking they have 10k before they have to think about it hitting 80k. Can you tell I'm married to a psychologist

T8's car with that mileage and being a tip is probably a £43-44k car at best in todays market, they have shockingly come down in the last 6 months.

That wouldn't be a problem if the right 991S came along at £50k-£51k.

Sadly, those I've seen at that money haven't been 'the right one' - hence my current dilemma.

Anyone who tracks the market constantly knows the 991 market hasn't actually collapsed!
Decent (basic) 991S are still sitting rigidly around the 55k mark (screen price) (in winter in the worst market for years) there not going to be taking a dramatic dip anytime soon, perhaps even the opposite coming into spring. Low milers are 57k + minimum.
Can't understand how keeping Red longer and adding even more miles, whilst reducing the remaining warranty time (the safety net for any potential buyer) time is going to help?
Sorry don't get advice to keep Red if T8 really wants a 991! It's not going to get better. More money to change is required, at least 12-15k for a special 991 (and that's presuming a private sale on red) or it's stick with red for the long term, simples :thumb: :nooo:

As phil says the special 991 is very tempting, and I'm sure T8 has drooled over this one! And it's red..

But it's also 70k!

That's the top price for a 2013 C2S on AT, but it's in line given the spec. Been doing some homework for a potential change later this year.

T8's responses to the points that .....

If scouring all the ads every three days counts as tracking the market I qualify :)

The market for 991s hasn't collapsed but they are still depreciating - albeit slowly. Lots of cars have been for sale for months but in that time several have come and gone very quickly.

Virtually all of the c£55k cars currently on the market have been for sale for a some time. Lower mileage cars carry a hefty premium.

I took the decision to rest 'Red' before 70k clocked up. I don't know how much she will depreciate if I take her to 73k by mid-summer. Shorter warranty would be reflected in what I'd advertise the car at.

I will have a 991 one day. I promised myself that in 2013 but it's not a car that I'm prepared to lose significant £££s by owning.

I haven't, as cars over £60k have never been on my radar.
