Hi. Can anyone suggest a cost effective solution to greatly improve the sound quality in my 2005 non Bose 997.1 please?

I have the same setup. Can't say I've invested in it yet since my car is only an occassional car, but I contacted a local trusted audio specialist and they suggested sound insulation in the doors and upgrading the main speakers in the doors as as the first stage, which apparently works really well. Wasn't that cheap from memory since they were talking about some decent components, but very little in the car world is cheap!

Good advice from Sy! if you have non Bose, then it's an easier upgrade and the easiest way to get improve the sound quality would be to replace the frankly awful units that Porsche have stuck in the front doors, I'd also replace the tweeters in the dash. I would also disconnect the centre dash speaker that dominates the mid range (not sure if the non Bose has a centre speaker!). This would be a good start :thumb:

I went the whole hog and replaced everything but like most things, the biggest gains are achieved through the good choice of components, law of diminishing returns applies particularly to audio!
