It's a more convincing retro homage than the 997! :D

Just stumbled on these. Don't know if they're newer photos or not :dont know:

No they're new today. The headlights need reworking as they look like a teenager about to drop his 15th ecstasy pill of the night. But I'm still liking the concept :thumb:

How do you mean?

One a side note, my mate was working with this lad last week. The guys off his nut!

I don't get it. A massive amount of work to make a great car look like a Frankenstein nightmare vision of a slightly older car?

Too pointy at the back, odd looking at the front. Maybe I'm a bit weird but I have coveted 911's since I was 8 and my mate showed me his dads chocolate brown turbo and I reckon the 996 is the best looker out of them all including the 997/991/992. Although I would say that wouldn't I

I'll get me coat

It's getting there in my view, based on the latest pics. Hopefully version 2.0 will be a lot more nicely resolved (assuming there is going to be a version 2.0). Personally I think the looks are light years ahead of the 996 but that's just me :D

I'm wondering though why did he start with a 996. Why not start with a 997 and just backdate the rear end and add those classic 911 style grills beneath the 997 headlights :?:

A bit like this photoshop which I remember posting on the forum a few years ago

I commented earlier in the thread but those new pics have driven me to comment again. :x

None of the things that make the older cars special have been added to that 996 by fitting that awful body kit.

That side view! :yuk:

The rear overhang reminds me of those smaller American RVs that are based on a pick-up chassis, hence they have massive overhang.

And the 70's rear lights are far too small for the car.

Having said all that, if we all liked the same thing life would be boring, etc etc. :D

I assume the overhangs are due to the design constraints imposed by the base car. The 996 and 997 do have fair sized overhangs front and rear which I would imagine are difficult to disguise on a backdate with the smaller rear lights

Totally. It has become more highlighted by the rake of the old style bumper.

As long as the owner is happy, that's what it's all about. 8)
