Hello All,

Replaced:
- MAF 3 times, but engine is only started without it.
- New fuel filter,
- New air filter
-New cabin filter
- New fuel pump relay
- New air injection pump relay
-New oil pressure relief spring
-New fuel pump fuse
-New Coolant lid (it was coolant stand around its neck)
- New oil filter and changed oil 2 times (because I filled Techron after first time, then oil filter got dirty again after just turned engine on without driving)

-Replace seal O-Ring for Intercooler Hose and Y Pipe (On this right here on the driver side, it is loosing a little where the rubber hose connects metal Y. Is it possible air getting from here?)

- One bottle of Techron complete fuel system filled into fuel tank.
-Mixed 100% gas with 93% gas 5/5

- Did test battery

-check all fuses on driver side wall.

After Immobilizer and DME programming codes were input, the car started with alarm goes off. After he replaced the alarm battery, it started no hiccup. But he told me after few days as soon as he lift the car up, alarm goes off.

Now, Car will crank not start after alarm went off.
Seem he was let the batter flat dead. Therefore, it occurs many issues after recharged.

Could not sleep over this
.
I do not know what to do now :-(

The following links were address the issues of my car.

It is not convertible.

I did all of above and still cannot get it run.
Therefore flatbed to local garage.

The car has been at local small garage almost 3 months. The owner of the shop could not figure out what was wrong. And was never mentioned about water ingress.
So, I searched all over forums and asked for help.

Thankful for your help!

I am not sure it has crank sensor or not, I will ask him tomorrow.
Thank you!

Also, its battery 33 months old. I had 3 places tested and they said it's stll good.

If it cranks then the battery is good enough. The fault would appear to be alarm related.

I think you need to bring your car to a Porsche Specialist. If you have to be asking questions on forums while your car is with a specialist for several months, he is not the right guy.

You might want to consider finding an electrical specialist that can travel to where your car is, or pay the guy that has the car now, and take it somewhere else on a flat bed.

Maybe contact your local Porsche Club to see if they can reccommend anyone near you. Check out via the Porsche Club America.

While we can all suggest things you could do, this isn't a good solution. You need a good technician to investigate on the car and give you evidence of the problem that they find.

I wish you good luck.

Ok so you basically have a car that starts some times but cuts out or doesnt start .. or doesnt spin over ??

i read the link .. the fault codes refer to gearbox or valve timing on x1 bank .

We need to go back to basics here .. get the garage to fit a noid light then crank .. this will tell us if the injectors are switching .. if they are then CPS is ruled out and so is the alarm system .

A basic check for spark .. pull a coil , fit a plug , earth it and crank .. do you have spark.

Fuel pressure . fit a gauge and test it .. this is a probable cause atm .

If you have all the above then you move onto compression checks .

The absolute first thing is to read off fault codes .. the car will know when something isnt right and will log a code .. so you want DME codes , Tiptronic codes and ALARM codes ..

An alarm block will give you a K lead or a W lead fault .. you can also see it on a tester if the alarm is active and blocking the car from starting .

i would humbly suggest you get a Porsche garage to actually look at the car .. my answers above are aimed at a mechanic as from your link post i dont think you or your Husband wil be doing the work .. if im wrong ill happily continue though :)

My husband did all the work I mentioned on first post. After that, I flatbed to local garage. The mechanic checked everything, he said there is no fault code and still none as of now.

Last month I got immobilizer and DME codes from Porsche dealers. After input those codes, engine started but as soon as he take off the key, alarm goes off. Suggestion from one member of Renntech forum was check alarm battery. So, I told the mechanic that. Next day, my husband stop by, the man was very happy and said it works now. I will put everything back and done on Friday. Saturday morning, my husband stopped by, the mechanic (owner was gone for personal business) was not there. The car lifted up, its driver side where muffler location was opened as well (which wasn't before) The helper was trying to clean that side too while in there, he told my husband.

Monday, my husband stopped by, the car cranked but not start. The mechanic owner tried.

Tuesday, I came and asked what's wrong with it now?
As soon as the car lifts up, alarm goes off. And now no started, no code found, he said.
(But I just right then saw its battery was charging the first time since it there).
Then I asked him is battery good? Tested no kickback, I guessed it's good. He responded.
Later on he told my husband 11.6 volts on battery.

Before leaving his shop, I told him, battery dead too long could mess up those DME code or triggering alarm. Its key could give trouble too. Will let you know if I've learn or get any help from online forums LOL.

This morning, brand new battery bought, after the old one tested at store got only 11.6volts.

My husband brought the new battery to him. He seems very happy. My husband told him please call my wife if you need anything about the car.
He replied the first thing I will called is let she knows it's running.

He has the car almost 3 months. Therefore, I do mot know exactly what he have done why the car started after coding, and now goes back to square one.

Thank You!

Get it into a porsche dealership or good indie......pay the money and get it sorted 👍👍👍

Ok .. im worryed about the dme / immobiliser codes .. there is no way you touch them unless you are replaceing either the dme or the alarm control unit.

Its very easy to get them wrong .. and if you do the car wont start and possibly the alarm will trigger.

Ive changed several of these items over the years .. there is a set procedure for it .. ive also seen a mechanic enter the wrong code as he was going to fast .. that ended up with a new dme .

Basically if the car spins over but doesnt start then you go with the checks i posted .. a noid light in an injector .. if it doesnt flash then its alarm or CPS ..

From what you have said it sounds very much like an alarm issue .

You do need to check the alarm memory for fault codes which may not have been done .

Non start with no fault codes is also a classic example of a fuel pump failure.

Im guessing your not in the UK ? and probably not near Brighton if you are ?

He is honest and very good mechanic for European cars as recommended by many local people. But I think he may never have fix any Porsche 996 turbo before.

Before brought it there, I asked he said he had repair Porsche.

Thank you.

DeMort,

I have not heard he mentioned about Tiptronic Code. When it supposed to come up for asking that code?

Thank you
