So booking Thruxton was a great idea ...
I reckon my car is around 110dB on a static test, and the decibel devils only take off maybe a couple dB
I know about capping the exhaust valves too, clutch in, air con off etc, but apart from Silverstone, are there any noise friendly tracks in the UK? If so, where... _________________ 2007 997.1 GT3

Donnington noisy days (inc PCGB August 1st) and the Club GM emailed me he was arranging an unlimited noise Thruxton day.

Silverstone has always been ok for me or no noise limit days, BaT are doing such a day at Donny mid June which I’m booked on £50 cheaper than the PCGB mentioned above.
Also invest in one of these, mine let’s me run at Donny on a 98 dbs drive by days and my car is as loud as yours these days
I have one of those - in fact that might actually be mine in that pic on the website
Issue is I just don’t like using it, as it looks terrible fitted and I’m paranoid about it dropping off! It might be my only option though realistically. I’ve never tested it on a static test at a track, any idea how many dB it knocks off roughly?
I’ll check out BaT _________________ 2007 997.1 GT3

Decibel devils are not particularly effective, you may get a reduction of 2 or 3 if your lucky.
110 dB is high, and noise limits are only going one way, if your planning on tracking the car regularly you would need to find an effective solution, I.e Change the exhaust.
Nothing worse than looking forward to a trackday only not to get on or being black flagged after a few laps.

Bring your bolt on muffler and we will get them to test it on the drive by meter so you have a reference point _________________ Porsche is for driving not for washing.

I just had a flashback. Didn’t we test it years ago? You organised a car control day somewhere and I brought it along. Don’t remember it being very scientific though. Yes will bring it along, as well as the DDs to test. Don’t think I’ll be able to make silly on the 17th unfortunately
Crash7 - yes I’ve thought about a new exhaust but can’t really justify the cost of that at the mo, not been doing that many trackdays lately. So long as there are a few louder days around (and I reckon there always will be) it’ll probably be enough for me. At the moment anyway... _________________ 2007 997.1 GT3
