Evening

Thinking of putting my 2002 C4s black/black manual up for sale, with 73100 miles.
Bought from a Porsche specialist ive owned the car for about 18 months.
4 Previous owners
19 service stamps Porsche & specialist last serviced 26/07/18 along with new air con condensers & regased along with a few other bits total cost £1700.
Brake fluid change at 64615 miles in june 2016
The car has MOT until 08/2019
Tyres are in fantastic condition
Two Keys

Valuation report date 23/07/2018

I can confirm that we have assessed the above vehicle and taken into account, the current millage, excellent condition and service history and value the vehicle between £ and £ for Insurance purposes.

The car really is in great condition inside & out along with low miles & owners. The car has been garaged for the last 18 months and I keep it looking pretty at all times

The reason im thinking of selling the car is that ive only covered 2kmiles in the time ive owned it and it seems a shame to just keep it sitting in the garage a car this clean needs to be on the roads.

Ive just bought new front coffin arms & tuning forks from design 911 which will go with the car.

Im happy to supply any further details if someone is serious.

GLWS but maybe a bit pricey for a private sale though this time of year.

Thanks for the reply

Im in no rush to sell just thought I would plant the seed & go with the flow.

GLWS - just curious, how does a 16/17 year old car have 19 service stamps?

Because that's how many service stamps are in the two service books, the specialist I bought from serviced it before I picked it up ( july 17 ) then I had my indy change & check the oil & filter & service, then it had its present service in july 18 so that's 3 stamps in 18 months. paper work to prove my friend.

Time of year shouldn't matter too much :dont know:

GLWS :thumb:

...ok I will say it; fantasy value for a car with no engine work completed...

Clearly a joke.

Well, I'll be a little more diplomatic and suggest that £24,500 is very optimistic. To be fair, you've said you're just raising your finger in the air, so to speak.
I think the time of year, Christmas around the corner, is against you but more importantly the market is very slow at present.
I'm afraid a more realistic price starts with a "1" but good luck with the sale.

I think £14,500 is a lot more realistic.

And also no point trying to find a buyer on here, as 99% of us already have one - need to list on autotrader, and if really serious about selling, start at £18,000, and knock it down every few days, until someone actually calls you, and then knock it down even more until someone serious comes to look and buy.

The market for old Porsches (more so private sales) is very small, and difficult to move on. No matter how amazing I think my 14 year old car is, no one will buy it unless for a rock bottom price!

Thread moved from the '996' to the 'Porsche Cars For Sale' sub-forum.

not true, im here looking (and reading and learning obviously), and im in the market, but a car of that age regardless of miles does not start with a 2 - thats 997 territory all just IMHO.

Gen 1 and Gen 2 C2 and C4 Manual cars, excluding Targa and C4s:
from what ive looked at/test driven over the last couple of months:
up to £10k - dog rough cars with no history or Cat C/D etc
£10k to £14k - nice usable cars with good history, but no evidence of IMS/RMS/Clutch change
£15k to £18k Nice well prepped cars with outstanding history and recent clutch/IMS/RMS (so peace of mind for the next owner)} often in dealers with 3-12 months warranty

Anything over £18k is under 50k miles with condition and history to match

Good luck with the sale, id be interested to hear more about the car if you think you can get to a price int he ballpark of what ive outlined above :thumb:

GLWTS

Personally I think the value is somewhere in the middle of the £15k-£25k range discussed.

The market is very slow at the moment but good cars at the right price are still moving. Waiting until Spring might be the best idea.

As you've only had the car for 18 months the retail value won't have changed much so for a private sale I'd suggest starting at the price you paid less 10% and to seriously consider offers at 5% below that.
