My mate has just been offered £48k trade in against a new £140k Panamera.

It's a 2012 991 C2S PDK Black on Black, nice options, 36k miles.

So if his local OPC is offering him £48k, what will that end up at on the forecourt? They've probably already got someone lined up.

Also, circa £70k was paid for it at 1 year old, being offered £48k 5 years later, so just £4,400 depreciation per year seems excellent

At an OPC that'll be a £59,995 car I reckon.

£4.4k pa depreciation being taken as "excellent" is an interesting view. Compared to the person who took a £25k hit in one year on the same car it definitely is. :)

Certainly compared to other marques it probably stacks up well but many on here are more likely to be in the camp of thinking that if he'd have bought a similar age 997GTS at that time he would have lost an awful lot less.

Horses for courses I suppose.

Realistically your going to lose on a 'normal' newer Porsche. The retail on the 991 im buying was just shy of 110 grand, and ive paid 62,500 on a 5 year old car, im fairly happy someone else took the hit of 47,500 and I see it being worth a minimum of 50-55k in 4 years time, as its newer and on cheaper finance ill gladly take that little hit :thumb:

....but that 1st hit is all VAT.

You have to use the "Man Maths" calculator when discussing cars :judge:

Spending over £100k on a car and doing 112k miles in 3 years is a bit of a strange thing to do.

:worship: to him. I find it far stranger when people that pay that sort of money for a new car and then barely use it.

NB: I'm not referring to buyers of unicorns as that's a whole different matter but you often see 3 year old mainstream 911s for sale with sub 10k miles on them. I bet their 'cost per mile' is only about the same as this blokes.

... but what about the osteopath bills? :)

I say good on him for burning up the miles. Isn't there some bloke in the US that's racked up 800k miles in a 930 Turbo or something rediculous like that?

I think we'd all agree this bloke is a legend. :bandit:

I seem to remember a few years back of a chap (in the States) that had done a few million in his Volvo P1800.(I always wanted one of them when I was younger)

North Americans are not the mileage snobs that we Brits are.

US and Canada are vast countries and they rack up the miles.

I can remember in the late 80's having a job interview in New Hampshire and speaking to one of their employees who drove from Rhode Island through Massachusetts to New Hampshire to work everyday....4 + hours travelling.

What's everyone's opinion on the 2015 4GTS above?

Been up for sale for a while. Original owner would have taken a big hit on this one.

Spending over £100k on a car and doing 112k miles in 3 years is a bit of a strange thing to do.

Expect if you were going to keep it for 10 years and do 3k a year it would probably be OK?

Lovely car, realistically it's worth 55 absolute tops, no way will it sell for that money. I dread to think of the trade price on that car, but yes if you can afford to take the hit rack up the miles. No doubt was an expensive company car for someone :thumb:

At least you know it won't have been "clocked".

I don't know about that, your car is probably low £50k's today (trade price).

I think realistically you'd be looking @ £40k max in 4 years time depending on condition and mileage.

You could be right but I can't see it. If I look now for a low owner 9 year old 911 997 2S with under 30k on the clock and full OPC history, I'd be paying close to the 50k mark for a decent spec car. Add on the unicorn spec, colour and X51 of Herman I'm confident of the 50k (but only with low miles) Be interesting to revisit in 4 years time! I think there will be a fall over the next couple of years for sure but then a rise (aka 997) for the last (and best) of the NA 911's

Don't worry about it, enjoy the car while you have it, wish I could find one :lock:

The 991.2 will take a hit for sure, there's a lovely miami blue C4s in my local OPC for £109k (2017, 9k miles) that will not sell for that price now as the new one can be had for the same plus pick your own options.

I've been looking at a 2008 997.2 C2 Manual 30k miles at a specialist, it's on for £37k. It's a lot of money for a simple NB C2, don't you think? What would a similar early 991 be?

Seems a little on the high side. Entering S territory albeit with a few more clicks
