What''s my 997 worth trade in

Hi,

I was just wondering if anybody knew roughly what my car would be worth trading in at an OPC against another used Porsche. I know I can go on webuyanycar and get a figure but I thought trade in would give you a better price and I just need a ball park figure to be going from. I'm still unsure what to do yet but need to have some starting point.

It's an 08 997 Carrera 2 tip. 105k, basalt Black, everything as original, immaculate condition, full opc history and has been on opc warranty until Oct this year.

It would be good to go in armed with a little knowledge.

Thanks

I don't expect they'll retail it, so expect a low offer. WBAC or similar will be a good clue.

Sadly :yeah:

The history will make it a great car for someone not put off by the mileage.

Unfortunately Porsche Specialists know that their customers will be so their offers will only match 'bottom book' ie WBAC values.

If you can bear to entertain the thought a private advert at WBAC+10% might be your best bet to get a few more £££s.

Good Luck

That's not great then. Wbac are only saying just over £15k.
I wish I could find another 08 at this price..
It's a bad time of year I know to be thinking of selling so it's probably a case of waiting for the sun to shine again and try then.
Cheers

I would say so, afraid over 100k miles really kills it for a lot of people (not me) and it's a tip as well. What's the rest of the spec like? For someone who doesn't care, would make a great daily driver.

Why do you want to sell it? I would keep it and keep using it....

As a trade in I was thinking 15 but didn't want to check wbac.

Problem with part x is although we know they will make off them they treat us like they're doing us the Favour!! 🙄

Edited as read poorly prior.

GLWS

I know someone after a mid-teens car so do PM me if you do want a private sale :thumb:

...I think people are talking the piss offering mid teens!

Keep it or sell it to a friend or family member but please don't give it away for £15k...

There are tons of 996/7s on sale for a lot more with similar mileage...

This thread epitomizes what I hate about buying and selling cars...when buying cars are worth whatever the asking price might be, and when selling the world and their wife want to offer you ***** all...in the hope of bagging a bargain...

Mid teens....Really?!

Actually my reply did read badly so I've amended, I don't want to buy a 997 tip again so I wasn't trying to load an offer.

Best just run it past wbac and it will clear up the question sharpish. As it's an 08 hopefully will be closer to 20 than 15!

Don't expect a good trade in price from an OPC. When I tried to sell my Cayenne they offered less than WBAC :bandit:
Sold it to a main dealer network in the end as it would retail through OPC no problem. Sadly yours won't because of mileage so they'll be looking at off-loading hence a low offer.

Private advert might be worth a punt at a midway price and gives a win-win :dont know:

In my recent experience, I've found that WBAC are offering better prices than main dealers (BMW, Land Rover) and private garages. Again, in my limited experience, main dealers (by their own admission) are using WBAC as the basis of theirs part-ex offers. I have uitilised WBAC as recently as 1 month ago and they have been excellent. Just don't expect a generous offer but do expect them to do exactly what they say, when they say they'll do it.

Thanks for your responses.
I'm thinking of getting rid just due to a rash of things needing doing all of a sudden. It failed it MOT last week for emmisons and the garage showed me where the flexi hoses on the exhaust back boxes had cracked, so it's in getting that sorted next week.
It's also having the passenger window regulator fixed at the same time and last month under Porsche warranty, which has now run out, had the auto box switch replaced.
I'm getting a little jittery about owning it all of a sudden. I've only had it since May and done less thank 1k. I don't want it to be a money pit just 6 months into ownership.

I may get 2nd thoughts when I get it back next week, if it passes it's MOT.
I love the car and it's been my dream to own one but I just get that feeling of impending doom.
It looks immaculate and drives like a dream.

I think if I do want to sell, I'll put it on autotrader and eBay for about £18k and see where it leads me.

If you love the car, it looks great, and drives well, then stick with it!

Why not get it 111 point checked, invest a bit of cash getting it up to standard, get the warranty renewed, then you can stop worrying about impending doom for a year at least.

Dare I say stop reading internet scare stories and enjoy your car.

Price

If you bought it with 104K on the clock can I ask how much it cost you 6 months ago? I am with the others and say stick with it. You will hardly have got to know the car yet??

keep it its a 911 - 997 for 15k dont sell it, like others said bite the bullet if you can get the OPC warranty & enjoy your motor
I appreciate simetimes money can be an issue but youve got a classic 911 enjoy it best you can :?:
