Advice needed after MOT exhaust failure

Today I took my 997 Carrera 2 08 for an MOT at the local garage, non specialist.
It failed on the emissions test and when I went to see it they showed me where it was blowing. It was coming from the concertina style parts of the exhaust. They are really corroded. I thought the exhaust has sounded a little loud from purchase in May but with this being my first 911 I just wasn't sure.
It still isn't anything I would have been worried about, nothing too major, just a nice sports sounding gruff exhaust.

They are now trying to find out if these parts are available separately or not before I take it to a Porsche specialist but I was wondering if anybody had any idea whether they are available or do you have to buy them as a larger build.

I've attahced an image of something similar, it's probably not the correct part for my car but it's just easier showing you the part in an image.

No doubt they are DANSK......which are prone to splitting on that flexi part.

You have 2 options:

1. Buy new back boxes.

2. Cut the corroded part out and Weld a flexi-joint in that position, e.g. one of these:

Thanks for your reply Alex. Yes I think your correct, it probably is a Dansk exhaust from what your saying. I've just searched and found your post from last year when you had problems. It looks just the same.

I'll wait to see what the garage have to say tomorrow and then if needs be point them in the direction of the flexi hose. I don't want to be shelling out for 2 complete back boxes at this time of year with my road tax due as well.

By the way if you don't mind me asking, which garage did you use to get the work done. I'm in the Ribble Valley too.
 
My mechanic did one and I did the other. Sorry to say you have no chance of either of those options (as we're both mowed out at present). The flexi part costs around £30 each and then you need someone whose capable of removing the back boxes, cutting the bad part out and then welding the flexi in and refitting back on the car. I would budget around £250 all in for that doing.........or £450ish for some top gear back boxes.
