Somewhere in Italy by the sounds of old mate in the background.

He needs to turn his psm off. Funny how some comments are saying keep the revs down, they obviously don't know how to drive an awd 911 in the snow.

Looks like a 997.1 to me by the wheels. Hard to make out the tail lights

The gen 2 has an electro magnetic clutch and would've enabled permanent awd in those conditions. The gen 1's psm system prevents the vc from doing its job of sending power to the fronts. Same reason as why they couldn't fit lsd to the 1st generation of psm 996s.

Proper design fault.

I will say there is some depth to the knowledge on this forum. So you're now aiming to buy a 997.2 turbo then Grin

Gen 1 and gen 2 997 turbo both have PTM AWD system. Gen 1 turbo as good as most 4wd SUVs in the snow.

Curiously Gen 1 997 C4S has the VC system from the 996 turbo/c4s.

Gen 2 997 C4S gen 2 has PTM same as 997 turbo.

In terms of driver dynamics I personally prefer the earlier VC 4wd system unless caught in a slow blizzard. It feels more rear wheel drive although the later PTM system on the gen 2 997 Turbo and 997 gen 2 C4S more playful than earlier version due to updated software making it again more rear biased. Chassis in our gen 2 997 C4S felt sharper than gen 1 997 turbo .

You can have the best 4wd system in the world but if the tyres are not suited to conditions its pointless.
It just means you might hit the thing your going to hit a little faster. Laughing
