Update after c.1k miles...

Other than a 500 mile round trip to Liverpool last week, the Touareg still hasn’t left the drive. The lure of heated seats and steering wheel hasn’t been enough to get me out of the 996... it just feels so nice.

Yesterday, I went to meet a mate who’s just bought a 996. 90 miles of motorway went smoothly enough, and gave access to some of the brilliant A & B roads around Kimbolton, including the B660 of Evo fame.

The way it handles rough, bumpy B roads is spot on - just the right balance of compliance and control at speed.

Week Monday I’m having rennline semi solid engine mounts and updated ARBs fitted, which I expect/hope will give it an even better feeling of control, particularly rear weight transfers.

Maybe Ohlins would feel even better, but at £1k, the Koni kit is fabulous value.

Thumb Cool I managed to get a good deal on just the shocks, currently on back order but likewise I'll be fitting these along with uprated anti roll bars

Could you possibly measure the distance from the centre of the wheel to the edge of the arch so I can compare, mine is lowered too by a previous owner, but I scrape on lots of things so would like to know what drop I have compared to your set up

It measures 650mm from road to arch at the front front, 660mm rear. On 225/40/18 & 265/35/1Cool.

Thanks for that, took the measuring tape and online tyre calculator to mine this afternoon, I got 650mm front 655mm rear.

Now adjusting for my tyre sizes 235/35/19, 265/35/19, I'm 5mm lower at the front but a big 18mm lower at the rear- nearly a 50mm drop from standard so I'm guessing the rears have had it: there certainly seems to be some pretty visible neg camber on the rears as one might expect.
Might explain the squeaking and hitting the bump stops at the rear

Would possibly sell yes, ideally keep it if I was to sell the car on but would probably let it go.

Is that Inc Vat?

Other option I was looking at was the H&R Cupkit. Same springs but non adjustable dampers.
