Hi,
I took the car (997 gen1 2008) out of the garage yesterday having been away for a couple of weeks and while turning the wheel hit the passenger door window button accidentally. The window started to go down and then I heard a horrible crunching noise.
I drove it straight back home, with the window down, not being able to get it back up again and managed with the help of my wife to get it back up, but the sound is awful.
The motor is still working but the only thing I can think of is with not using it for a few weeks and never opening the passenger side for an age, the glass stuck to the seals and damaged the regulator or window mechanism when the button was pressed.
I thought it may be an easy job to take the door card out and have a look at the inner workings but having got the card off, there's another skin inside that would need to be removed, along with wiring for airbags etc. It looks like it may be a step too far.
Does anybody have any idea what the problem is going to be and is it serious?
The car is going into OPC Bolton on Monday for a part fit on the auto box that was on order before my opc warranty ran out. Part on order for 2 months and now the warranty has run out this happens.
While it's in should I get them to take a look, any ideas roughly what they would charge for a fault like this.
Cheers
