I usually like all new models but I'm not sure I prefer that to a 991 (which I do like). Am I alone?

2011 Porsche 997 Turbo S

PostPosted: Thu Aug 02, 2018 9:41 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

I really like that compared to the gen 1 991 ..... this is a BIG improvement , the lines are a lot better .... I also usually take a while to warm to a new model.... I wasn't tempted with the 991 but this iteration looks a lot tidier

There is another similar thread showing the Turbo bodied car..... now that is good .. I wonder just how much bigger it will appear compared to the 997 even !

Back is better. The front, not so sure. When I saw the pic of the rear it made me think of Daft Punk.

More detail here: https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/2019-porsche-911

From Autocar:
Quote:
The future 911 range, including the GT3, will exclusively use turbocharged six-cylinder engines, marking the end of naturally aspirated units for the line-up.

So basically, ahm oot.

The style of back end looks a bit heavy to my eye, but I will keep an open mind until I see other colours.

As for the interior, it’s still under wraps ‘literally’ but expect the same 11” touchscreen infotainment as seen in the #MacanFacelift with some switchgear inspired by the AudiA3 🤨 but whether it suffers from blank switch syndrome is yet to be seen 🧐 #TonyHatter

2012 Porsche 991 Carrera S

PostPosted: Thu Aug 02, 2018 8:46 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Perhaps it's the colour and/or the angle of the shots, but I don't think that is a very pretty car. The Rear End looks far too clunky and heavy, and front lacks the sleek look, compared to the 991.1 & .2.

I'll caveat this by saying it might look a lot better in the flesh, but on these shots alone, I'm not inspired. Don't flame me!

I'm neutral at the moment too until I can see the whole package in its final productionised entirety.

Unless you load it up well and pay the dough it will have more blanks than a territorial Rolling Eyes

MMM not sure about that rear end, the Daft punk comment is spot on or Tron comes to mind. Make the older cars look nicer more desirable to me

I agree with HSC911. The 991.2 was an audi in disguise. This new thing is just plain Audi. They're not even trying to disguise it anymore.

I've been ooot for a long time, but now I don't think I'll ever be persuaded to buy a new 911. Wouldn't have one driven at me.

Mad

Or maybe it’s a new Porsche 911 Brabantia Floor
