Woes of selling a 996 Turbo

Personally I wouldn't bother with any other sites (unless your going to drastically reduce the price for a private sale?)

I search all the sites looking for cars (every day) Pistonheads is a country mile above all the others, someone whos (really) looking for that model will find it easily, the harsh truth is at the moment there probably isn't?

I don't see anything wrong with add other than the filthy engine bay!

Theres a similar car on advertised on here (granted higher mileage and private sale) but its manual and up for 28K.

Don't really want to comment on others cars for sale, but it does look a great buy and very undervalued compared to the general market. I'm amazed that has not sold yet tbh, just shows what a bad market it is for these cars atm - just my luck prob could've sold it 5 times over this time last year! :D

I'm not in any rush though to be honest and I think it's positioned at the right price (willing to listen to offers) just possibly needs a bit wider exposure on other sites like eBay and some better snaps (will get the cart and engine bay detailed too).

Well worth doing.

I know I go OTT on my cars but I have never ever struggled to sell my cars for top money based on pictures demonstrating the condition and an advert detailing the spec and history. There is someone out there looking for your exact car or willing to make a compromise from their original choice. I sold my white focus rs to someone after a blue one just because I have pictures of the underside being as clean as the top...

I'll sell it for you! lol

Haha Mark I'm with you, I normally never have issues selling a car but this one due to it being slightly higher value I thought the general public would rather by from a specialist, but that certainly doesn't appear to be the case!

Where abouts are you out of interest? I'm in SW London near Wimbledon..

I guess they have their cut on the price too? I just think the ad isn't being seen. People outside of the internet car community have never heard of pistonheads, so ebay is the go to place for the masses. I guess AT too..

I'm in Sutton (Belmont actually but no one has ever heard of it)

Yes they take a cut of the price too. That's been my feeling too, it's buried amongst a deluge of other 996 Turbo's (of which there is a fair few).

I know Belmont / Sutton very well, been in the area all my life - was born in St Heliers in Sutton!

IMO you need to decide what price you take for it and it needs to be less than the median price to get a look in, unless there are very good reasons for it to be higher.

996tt prices have been static since last autumn and softening in the spring. I was looking in the spring and spoke to all selling their 996tt on here, but I found the asking prices were significantly higher by private sellers than some retail emporiums.

IME there is a disconnect or at least a delay to prices heading south, a trader usually needs to sell stock on asap.

To quote myself a year or so ago...

I think we are in for a rough ride...

Slutters
you FB link is probably set to private, can't see it.

Why not just keep it and use it?

Alternative is selling it for a price you're not going to be happy with.

I get periodically bored with mine, usually when I'm away for 2-3 weeks, then get home and drive it and remember why I've still got it.

Go track it somewhere, might change your mind. :thumb:

Is that mine you're referring to? If so, yes, I'm amazed it hasn't sold too. It is an amazing car - I just don't seem to be able to convince others of that! I turned down an offer of 30k last year  which I've regretted since tbh. Bird in the hand etc... I remember 3-4 years ago when I was looking you had to be checking the classifieds almost hourly to get in there first. Very different story now.

No it was another seal grey one that's for sale atm that I was referring to, which is your one? How long have you had it for sale? Is it only up for sale here?

Mine's here: http://911uk.com/ads_item.php?id=8347

Up since May, been on here and Pistonheads. Lots of interest tbh, but mostly "Is your car still for sale, mate" - then no further contact, so I'm guessing people trying to see where the market is at rather than looking to buy. A few viewings but not really serious 996 buyers. Perhaps it doesn't help being a bit out of the way in Devon, but at this sort of money I would certainly be willing to travel any distance to get the right car.
