997 Turbo Actuator Lubrication

oil now listed

The oil/grease is now for sale on eBay: 401551332070

Thanks,
Tom

Gleitmo 5040 is the right product and the aerosol is what an OPC will supply for the job.

I should think using a paste, as per the eBay listing, is not that easy to apply as the actuators aren't that easy to get to. A doddle with the aerosol, even I can do it! :D

I ordered a tube of this - now how do i Get to the actuators to apply the paste?

Cheers

i've got 2 tubes and will have a go at the weekend. It looks like you can get to them with a small paint brush.

Tom

cheers Tom - interested to know how you get on. Please let us know as mine will be arriving next week so would be good to get a heads up before I make a mess!

I managed to grease my actuator rods at the weekend and it was quite easy really.

I first jacked the car up the rear of the car and removed the rear wheels, the bottom ball joints can be got to from underneath, and you can just about get to the top ones with a long brush. I chose to remove the small inner arch covers so that i could also clean out the leaves from the top of the inter-coolers through the blanking piece in the picture below.

(I found a large stone, small stones and lots of leaves so its a good job i looked!!)

With the inner arch covers removed you can easily get to the top ball jointss

Thanks,
Tom

Yes, the paste is half the price but the spray is a lot less faffing around.

With the spray, I've used a mirror to see the actuators easily, squirt the spray onto them and job finished (both actuators) in 30 seconds with no need to jack up or remove wheels.

It's even easier when I've done it at MOT time.
