911 Carrera 4S (Green content!)

Glad to see you're looking for a manual. I like the one on offer from NVT

Good luck with the search

I was all set to sell mine last year, had the advert written ready... I just couldn't bring myself to go through with it! I'm determined to sell this year now, I just need to break the emotional attachment! it's the longest I have ever owned a car (6years) . So to the op, if you are interested it's a 2004 manual with factory aerokit, switchable pse, pcm, rare x73, hardback sport seats and 93k miles and a folder with pretty much every receipt in my ownership and lots of paperwork before that. Looking at current values I am thinking along the lines of £23k, please anyone chime in if I am out on my valuation! If you google image search '996 c4s aerokit x73' it's on the third row with my nephew sitting in it!

It's possible. Go for a car that's had some of the main work done. I bought a car at your budget last summer that had the IMS, RMS, Clutch, Brakes and a big service. Since then I've done the suspension, media unit, overhauled the exhaust, treated the leather and put a fresh set of MPS on it. Done!

This amount of work could easily touch £10k. A C4s at approx 16 years old will need this lot done. If it hasn't and the car is £25k then you might want to look around for one that has... Not many around but there will be eventually.

I'd pay a dealer £30k if all the work had recently been carried out.

As a minimum I'd only pay £25k - £27k if the IMS had been done and half the work I've listed also been done recently by a known specialist like Parr or Hartech etc. My car owes me close to £30k now as I've spent finished the "heavy" maintenance.. Use her everyday and she's up to date, immaculate with low mileage (don't let low miles put you off if the IMS and there's no borescore.. always get the engine checked!!).

They're wonderful cars. Utter bargains at the current level.

Best of Luck.

My car is for sale at the moment.

On Pistonheads = Black car @ £27,999. Link removed by moderator

It's had a full rebuild at Hartech (all 6) and almost everything else done including:

New coffin/track control arms (The other two were replaced by Barry)
Had a full geo set up at Hartech
Fitted new air con condensers
Fitted new clutch and dual mass fly wheel
Replaced gearbox linkage cables
Replaced discs and pads all round
New engine mounts
New water pump
Full set of N rated PS2 tyres
Various other bits and bobs, Mechanical and cosmetic.

Added up my receipts this morning, Nearly 10K.

PS, Current owners. I don't recommend adding up your invoices. That will put a damper on your Friday!

The hunt is over, I collect it next weekend. I'll post some photos up later but it's a 2003 Lagoon Green C4S, the colour completely won me over.

That's an unusual colour. Looking forward to seeing the pics. :thumb:

:congrats:

I was always told the c4s have the highest ims failures on all the models and to avoid the low mileage cars as they are prone for failure and anything over 129k are less likely to fail if had regular oil changes. Correct me if I'm wrong I'm going back 3 years now

Mine's on 128k fingers crossed....

Never seen one that colour, congrats :thumb:

...personally, having just experienced an ims failure leading to a full engine rebuild that is looking like costing close to £13k I would not entertain buying any 996 or 997 (pre gen 2) that hasn't had a rebuild or similar unless you have a bank account capable of sustaining such a financial impact should the worst happen!?

It's a gamble buying one otherwise...

My opinion was that 911 ownership is never going to be cheap and for a lot of owners it's a heart or head decision.

I'll of course pray for no major issues but hey it can happen!

Quick photo for you all:

ooooohhhh- I like that colour...

Just FYI - the Porsche Dealer parts system sometimes (in my C4S case) suggests C2 suspension parts or Carrera 4 parts even with the full C4S VIN.

Example - The standard C4S has lower suspension than a C2 - I'm still confuses as to what it has as it isn't M030 and it isn't IX73 which is the C4S version of the IX74, but the additional Foam spring on the dampers is the Same P/N as the IX73...The Porsche system offers the C2...

Regardless - if you are ordering Porsche parts from Porsche, get them to triple check if their Parts catalogue is telling them the truth.

hope this helps
