There were no worries on that score. The place was packed with Sunday afternoon local tourists so we parked 'naughtily' across the top of a boat launch ramp for as long as it took to get pictures with the castle as a back-drop. We never actually went more than 20 yards away from our cars. :wink:

Some of the pictures from the Spa trip. Video of us going round Spa is being prepared, taking the audio off!

Thanks to everyone for a great trip and great company. It was good to get some time in the car as well, made even more fun by a few stints with other 911's in view.

I'm not one for too many photos but did get a few;

The view from my hotel room in Nurburg;

Views from the top of the castle;

Here's one you don't get the chance to take everyday;

:?: :?: :?:

An insane piece of pig for lunch with Richard, Paul and Trevor;

And finally the star of the show for my trip;

Funniest thing overheard at the show was someone who won't be named filming on his phone explaining that he was filming Batman and was trying to get some footage of his cape from the rear, just as Batman was walking alongside Harley Quinn

:?: :floor: :floor: :floor: :floor: :floor:

Here is the 997 turbo (red only) in its natural habitat :floor:

In all of T8's road trips I do not think he has got away without visiting customs once... Is it him or the car???

It's the 'Mod' in him...he is making sure that they are doing their job correctly :cop:

:grin:

Well I didnt manage to make Dinslaken

but met up with a few of the group at the Nurburgring :D

On the cold and wet day

Managed only 4 laps before if got completely rained off

thanks to @Askgeez and @Tordofm for joining me as passengers where was there was enough of a drying track to get a half decent lap in, no sign of @T8 :?:

before the BMW e46 binned it at Brunchen right in front of us :lock: not to mention the GT4 that finally decided to let me past half way down the worst place the pass, the foxhole !

993 drove better, considering the conditions and limits to where I could push where I didnt couldnt generate enough tyre temperature

who says 993 owners dont drive their cars hard !

for those who followed me on Twitter

Thanks to Phil and.all the Spa.squadron for a great trip, loads of laughs and some spirited driving.
One member has now elevated himself to legend status on his first trip ...... all we need to do is get him to sign up to the 911uk forum and the job is complete :worship:

And just to confirm to the doubters ...... a standard heivht 997.2 turbo will go upstairs on the train regardless of the amount of bleating and pointing to the ground the driver aims at the loading official :cop:

It's not my fault that red 911s are so attractive to the fairer sex. :)

Seriously, I've used the shuttle loads of times in various cars and haven't been stopped at Folkestone.

EVERY time (5) I've been over in the current T8 machine I've been asked to pull over and, all but once, 2 lady security staff have spent as much time telling me how much they loved the car as they did asking me the questions on their clip-board.

Or .......... it could just be me they want to get closer to. 8)

Yeah right T. So that's your cover story for having taken a wrong turn between uk passport control and French passport control, which to anyone else is a straight line. That's special even for your directions :floor: :floor:

It's probably going to take me a few days to choose the best pics from my photo collection :oops: and to pen the story of our trip but for now ........

From the time the 911uk contingent arrived at the Dinslaken showground until about 11.30 - about 2 hours - I was quite disappointed that the recent weather seemed to have put the Germans off attending their biggest meeting of the year and that the 911ukers, especially those that hadn't been before - would be put off going again. In fact, after 5 consecutive years, I even started speaking of not doing it myself in 2019.

At about 11.30 am things changed. The sun broke through, the temperature rose and the steady trickle of German plated Porsches arriving turned into a bit of a flood. By the time our group left for home at just after 1pm the showground was as full as I've ever seen it. It seems like the locals had all heard that it wouldn't brighten up until that time and had delayed their departure time from home accordingly.

Sadly, a chunky percentage of the 911uk attendees had already left and missed how good it eventually turned out. For them I'll start with these pic's - illustrating how the outer ring became full on both sides leading to cars parking down the middle of the track and the infield filling up.

We had great weather for the 275 mile drive back to Calais so I'm certain that those that stayed on for another night will have had a fantastic afternoon and a great evening back in Oberhausen.

I can't wait to see their pics and hear those stories when they get back to the UK today. :thumbs:

A few of the 'late arrivals' were a bit special too. :worship:

eg.

......... and another one of these. :cloud9:
