It was fitted two years ago so I would think they'll accept no responsibility whatsoever. Good luck though!

Quite, and that's the spirit of forums, a diverse, undiluted and informed approach is what I am after, this is of course before I go full retard :thumb:

Boba I'm not sure why but your one of the guys I listen to on here even though you did insult my 4S once lol don't worry I got over it and bought a mezger :thumb:
Can I ask have you used this so called specialist before and if so I take it you were happy? Why were they not given the chance to put it right, inconvenience or trust?
You don't come across as someone who would accept anything other than perfection, we all know you spend buckets on your car on preventative maintenance, not to mention rear wings and cosmetics. I wouldn't want to be the person at the specialist when you turn up to discuss!

Great post, and thanks, I think !! You should not listen to me, Ill get you in trouble!!

I am a petrol head, big time!!

I am a realist, I don't have buckets of cash, I work hard for the things I have. I am very much a perfectionist, some have trouble with me because of my extreme expectations, but that just comes as a result of being working class, and I value my expenditure and what I get in return.

This so called specialist.....hmmm.... Grrrrrr......Its a bit early days, to go full nuke... but ill deal with it and Ill feed back :thumb:

I did listen, well a bit not totally! I bought the mezger after reading your enthusiasm and I'm glad I did it's a hell of a car!! Hope it all gets fixed and your back enjoying and taking pictures of your beauty soon :thumb:

+1. No chance.

:nooo:

If it was done 2 years ago, how come it wasn't picked up on MOTs or services? The bolts don't just wind out all of a sudden and fall out. :dont know:

Surely it must have been noticeable last time it was inspected?

2 years and 2k miles!?

I suspect you've got more chance of holding a fart in after one of Mrs Ragpickers fajita specials than getting anywhere with this.

Going off half cocked and accusing people/businesses isn't going to get you anywhere IMO.

My advice FWIW - walk softly and carry a big stick :thumb:

Sadly I agree; thy will ask where you have been in those two years for the odd bit of fettling. Good luck and I hope you get a result

Alex and Ragpicker both make good points above :?:

If it is cared for meticulously as you say then why was this not picked up in advance? Or is that the bit you're angry about?

But I'm also wondering why you didn't notice it before? Surely loose driving bolts you'd hear or feel? I drive mine far more than you do yours, yet every time I start it I'm listening and checking for anything amiss. The stalk is worn from obsessively checking my tyre pressures followed then the oil temp then the oil level  So that confuses me a bit. Though maybe that's because I'm too working class? :dont know:

I used to own an alfasud. They had inboard discs that were directly on the ouside of the diff. The drive shaft flanges were then on the outside of the discs. They were famous for coming undone. The joy with those though was if they came out.........you had no brakes :drive:

If these things worked loose then we would all be suffering from drive shaft fall out?

I don't know 100%, but I am pretty sure checking the drive shaft bolts doesn't even come under any planned maintenance by Porsche. Therefore we can assume that once these bolts are torqued correctly they are fit and forget.

The fact that they have worked loose, whatever the time and mileage; says that they weren't installed to spec.

If this specialist is worth their salt, and reasonable, I would imagine that they would look at meeting you half way. The car has only done 2k miles so I can't see why they'd kick off. They would have preferred to fix it themselves to reduce cost. I'd approach with calmness and reason to get and get some recompense.
Good luck

Would that qualify for a Darwin Award?

 No - the Darwen award. The car actually spent most its life in Darwen. Big Alfa following in that little town as there's quite a large Italian population there and all my Italian mates had Alfas.

I must try and find a photo of mine for you all to laugh at. Very.... Lets say.....heavily mod'd.

Alex has a great point. Done 2 years ago but maintained to perfection every year - must be something up with the yearly maintenance. Either that or actually they were fine when done, fine when examined last year and have since failed in some way. Can't see how the garage that did them can still be responsible for something it is impossible to prove is their fault. Beautiful looking car, looks lovely in the endless photos of the top side, but someone needed to pay more attention to what was happening underneath. Not you necessarily but I don't think the fault can be conclusively placed on who did the work 2 years and 2000 miles ago.
