Terrible day, Poorly 997 and 10 hours to recover. Help !!

Can I ask, and you may help me and please do not be offended by my questioning - but what could / would, I expect from a response from you, if it was you that did not tighten them up correctly when fitting my clutch and other work just 2k miles ago??

Everyone makes mistakes, but where safety is concerned there should be checks in place to mitigate the risk of this sort of problem.

I would expect the indie to do the right thing and cover all the costs of any damage! If they quibble, name and shame!

Can I ask, and you may help me and please do not be offended by my questioning - but what could / would, I expect from a response from you, if it was you that did not tighten them up correctly when fitting my clutch and other work just 2k miles ago??

I think for me .. id probably resign and think carefully about wether i should work for another garage again .

We do make mistakes , im afraid eveyone does at times .. i dont know the full story but this is safety related and yes .. all mechanics are accountable for that .. if someone is injured due to a mistake i make then its me in court not the garage owner .

The joke is i can get 5 years for dischargeing a/c gas to the atmosphere but injury to a person through negilgence is probably a suspended sentence .

My feeling is they were not done up tight enough or 1 / 2 bolts were missed and not tightened .. its easy to get called away when working on a car to do a waiting job and forget what you have done .. its no excuse though .

its possible .. although to be fair i cant really argue the point that they reused the bolts and there was fatigue in the bolts which caused the failure .. kinda clutching at straws i know .. an outside chance .

Not offended at all .. i do my best to answer a question .. its why i come here :)
 
Don't know what to say other than, it's a sobering thought what could've happened.

At least nobody was hurt mate and hope you resolve everything :thumb:

Oh Ill do more than name and shame, I am not the sort of guy that will sleep soundly until I have...... :thumb:

Just wanted to plan and be one step ahead, with any unexpected, defensive or void of any responsibility approaches. :thumb:

So many thanks for the response, and I appreciate your help, but, would you except responsibly for the failure :thumb:
 
Went to a very well respected dealer not long ago to look at a car for my friend which he bought, it was a good one, went to check out the usual faults and all seemed in order, one item I went to look at was the tandem pump and I was told had been changed by their " specialist sure enough at a glimpse it was shiny and new.
Car went into OPC last month (Kendal) they pointed out and photographed the bolts used to "secure" the new tandem pump which were non OEM which is fine as they are ***** anyway but were too long and had not bottomed out to secure the pump, it would have took 5 minutes to pop them in a vice and take some material off to shorten them.
Not a pop at the dealer as they used the "specialist"in good faith, but very shoddy work from a "specialist "
Loads of "specialists" about and in my opinion and experience about 50% are expensive Cowboys latching onto the "specialist tag both north and south of the country, in fact I am thinking of more bad ones than good ones

Can I ask have you used this so called specialist before and if so I take it you were happy? Why were they not given the chance to put it right, inconvenience or trust?
You don't come across as someone who would accept anything other than perfection, we all know you spend buckets on your car on preventative maintenance, not to mention rear wings and cosmetics. I wouldn't want to be the person at the specialist when you turn up to discuss!

I am a realist, I don't have buckets of cash, I work hard for the things I have. I am very much a perfectionist, some have trouble with me because of my extreme expectations, but that just comes as a result of being working class, and I value my expenditure and what I get in return.

This so called specialist.....hmmm.... Grrrrrr......Its a bit early days, to go full nuke... but ill deal with it and Ill feed back :thumb:
 
they might say a third party sabotaged it, its not like it happened the day after they fitted it, i doubt they will put their hands up, would you if there was that small possibility.
