Rear ended - in need of rear bumper repaint

SoHo said:
Thanks John

I've gotten an initial estimate of 400 ex VAT from an independent body shop, which seemed a bit high. He said it had to be removed because of rubber fitting around the parking sensors

£400 + VAT is steep to blow the bumper over. I am currently having some damage to the edge of the passenger door repaired and the door painted plus new front Aero bumper painted and fitted for £450+VAT.

Whoever does it ask them what paint they will be using and how they intend to prepare it.

Thanks Rob
Where are you getting your job done?
Maybe I'm also not qualified to respond to that line of questioning (i.e. what is he going to tell me on the paints and the paint prep. that I can use?)

I used Autowerx in Milton Keynes, they do a lot of work for a classic Porsche restoration outfit next door. Picked my car up today, very pleased with it!

To be honest, most decent body shops will use top quality paint. Porsche use Galsurit, which is expensive because it can't be bought in smaller quantities. I have used Dynacoat when I painted my wing/deck and colour match and finish were perfect. I would definitely recommend Autowerx, although they are busy so you may have to wait a few weeks andmya not be convenient for you. I would just steer clear of outfits that only specialise in Insurance jobs!

AutoWiz in welwyn garden city are exceptional and not expensive. Just had my front bumper done, whole thing, scrapes from people who can't park on both corners, for £300 inc VAT. They really do an exceptional job, can't speak highly enough of them.
