996 C4S v 997 C4S

The 996 is a lovely looking machine, but it depends what your aims are with the car. 3-4 years ago the 996 would have been hugely cheaper and it's where my money would have gone. With the current prices going a bit crazy I'd be going for the newer car every time, especially if you're planning to drive the car and not get too hung up on future value. That's what I did and I don't regret it at all. As they age the prices of the 996 and 997.1 will start to overlap. While the 996 C4S is arguably more special looking than the 997.1 C4S when comparing to the standard narrow bodied cars, they still made quite a few of them. The values will only really increase once lots have been written off or rotted away in 10+ years.

Simples.

996 C4S - superb car, especially if you chose the right one - which, as we all know, is the Cabriolet in Polar Silver...

Seriously m8 - go drive both then make YOUR choice on what YOU like. Both great bits of kit as they are both Porsches... :thumb:

Dont forget we demand Porsche porn when you buy her.

In my experience the 996 C4S will present a real problem.....

For years I would always be chopping and changing "hobby cars" - buy one enjoy having it then look forward to researching and finding something else.... happy days !

I wanted to try the Porsche thing so did all the research and to cut a long story short I purchased the best 996 C4S I could find. It's a X51 manual cab. I bought it from an independent dealer and at the time it was probably the most expensive example on the market.

Fast forward a few years and i have found it to be absolutely fantastic. I never tire of the looks. It has just the right balance of modern/classic (including he interior, the headlights and everything else). Performance is plenty for me (more than enough) and the value has gone up !

So here is the problem... Despite looking I can't find anything I would prefer within my budget. I could sell and add another 20k to 25k but I can honestly say there is nothing I would prefer or nothing that would give another 20k to 25k of enjoyment. So I am "stuck" - you have been warned !

Osh, I never knew you cared !!, having trouble at the mo, currently poolside at The Palm Sofitel Dubai and just had emails saying my 7/15mm wheel spacers, carbon fibre rear spoiler and Martini stripes for the Le Mans trip have all been delivered at home and I want to fit them now!! :duh: :nooo:
That's what it does to you.....,
