Neighbourhood jealousy

I'm not jealous of my neighbour (who has three black cars), except for the fact he seems only to work about 6 hours a day (when I'm working from home, I've noticed that he leaves at 0730 and gets home at 1515).

I wish I had those kind of hours.

Actually I don't, I'm not a man of routine. Except for annual servicing.

Haha shoe on the other foot time. He goes off to work everyday does 6 intense hours onsite then comes home from work and has a further 5 hours paperwork to get through. Mean while that lazy sod next door just stays at home all day. Probably looking out his window at his silly car.

I know what he does for a living. He doesn't work sites, and wouldn't know PPE if it bit him in the leg. He doesn't even work in his own garden. I suppose he might think it odd that sometimes I disappear early in the morning and come back a week later in the middle of the night.

He probably just assumes you have a lot of holidays :?:

Edit just to say I'm not trying to make any point here. I can be very dry and sometimes it can be interpreted the wrong way especially in text form. The thread kicked off with a funny theme so I am only playing along, hopefully that is clear.

No worries, none of us should be taken too seriously. I have been feeling somewhat bantacious [is that even a word?] today (it must the spring sun!).

My other neighbour is very cool but he's not a petrolhead (either) sadly. So I just have to creep away with the PSE valves shut. In my old neighbourhood, they'd always give me a thumbs up and tell me "we can always hear it when you're coming home". :driving:

I'm surrounded by premiership footballers, can you imagine what I have to put up with

...... and the hours they "work" :frustrated:

ps I've seen carra around more lately
Interestingly, yesterday I went to have a look at 2 houses owned by ex Man U players. One of which is still furnished. Jesus H. Is all I can say. Fair pads. Although I can see why the trend now is for them to tent rather than buy. If you're on 300k a week and rent is £5k a week, it's a no brainer as when they move on to their next club in 18 months they're not burdened with the buy/sell issue.

I know the interior designer who is doing Sanchez place, budget was £400K, it's overspent.....and still less than 1 weeks wages :floor:

OP - do what I do , be friendly :floor:

My neighbour of the last ten years is a petrolhead . Has a fair collection of tasty cars...

I'm fortunate that he is a technophobe, so I fix his Wi-fi, broadband, mobiles , iPads etc etc

In return ...

He gives me the keys for the afternoon to 2 Ferrari's , AMG GTS , 993tt (damn he's selling that one) ... only this evening , took the 997 GT2 our for a pipe clearing session :bandit:

My neighbour's got 2, and a 997 Speedster, 997 GT2 RS in RHD, Ferrari 458, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Bentley and one of those boxy off road Mercs and he's only in his 30s!! :nooo:

Alex ...... I didn't know you were a neighbour to Jontt ........ :floor:

One of my neighbors has just bought his 17 year old daughter one of those 'boxey off road Mercedes" in bright blue as her first car, c£160k

What 'life lessons" does that tell her :dont know:

To be fair she is going out with a mates son and is supposed to be a really nice girl ..... but still.

I have another wealthy mate who has just bought his eldest lad his first car, a 7 year old polo in bright green he bought off the cleaner, he loves telling the story of his lads expression when it was 'unveiled"........ his neighbours think the cleaner has moved in :thumb:

To balance things out one of the 'biggest" houses in the area the owner drives a 53 plate 320d ......... it does have a £150k private plate on it though which he apparently inherited. I'm often tempted to drop in an offer of £10k cash for it :?:

She was telling me about another football 'client" who's girlfriend was complaining to her that he had only allowed £100k for 'window dressings" :hand:

Update: I'm pleased to report I havent seen the car again and they are back o the normal 2 x Mercedes on the drive. Easter weekend coming though so I'll be keeping my eye out....

:cop: :judge:

Funny to see/hear the reaction of neighbours to cars.

I never had my neighbour down as a petrolhead (him and his wife drive a qashquai) and yet when I first took my 997 home, he was round in a flash.

"Ooo is the the 3.8 etc etc"

He even used to comment on how good it sounded! He doesn't speak to me so much now I've sold it :dont know:

As I'm in the final bits of a rather decent reno, I can assure you 100k does nothing in a half decent house. A decent sized kitchen with appliances is £30k min, more like £50k. Each bathroom reno is £5k. Built ins wardrobes are 1.5k for basic, 5k for porn star built in. I could go on.
But if you're a little bit sneaky you can double your bang for buck. When people come here to quote for things I alway joke with them to break the ice that being a non Englishman, I'm exempt from the Cheshire tax. Before I finished the garage I used to park the car a couple of houses down otherwise the price would be stupid.
My tip to anyone renovating would be never call anyone for a quote who advertises on tv.
