The interior colour is 'natural leather in brown'. It is darker than savannah beige or cinnamon brown (also an option at the time), which is a bit more reddish.

The natural leather was processed differently than standard and wears better apparently, with a nicer looking patina over time. It was an expensive extra when new and I've only seen it on one other car.

... So it is a rare car then :?:

That interior colour is and TFFT. :D

NB: The ads don't refer to the colour being rare but do claim that both cars are. Perhaps it's because they googled 'tubro' bodied C4S and none came up. :dont know:

Don't really think it's a rare car (apart from the colour combo, but that's a matter of taste).

There were actually quite a few more C4S models sold than narrow body C4. So that's actually one of the rarest 'standard' 996s bar the targa.

The 'market' doesn't see it that way, it seems. And the looks go a long way with the C4S. Not that I really disagree, mind you :)

Anyone buy it? He's also got a nice looking silver C4S tip for sale too.

Yes, my brother did. Picked it up this morning. Two owner car, really well spec'd with Bose and cruise, full specialist history, recent brakes and newish N rated tyres.

Got durametric on it and it was clear, no obvious signs of borescore, no RMS leak and have driven it 100 miles down the motorway so far.

I've also got a C4S but manual, the one thing we are both not convinced with this one is tiptonic. We will see if he changes his mind!

I've also bought a car from the same seller in the past few months without issues. The other car was relisted as the seller didn't contact them - we were given the second chance offer on it.

Guess it's a brave way to buy a car but I don't trust dealers warranties anyway so would rather have the cash to put it right.

 My Turbo has two tone grey which I don't mind. Also I don't mind grey interior on darker blue and black cars! :)

I was only looking for manual as they seemed to be less affected by engine issues?

Mrs prefers that I buy an auto so she can drive it occasionally, not sure thats a good thing.

The Portiacraft car looks great. Best colour combo for a 996 and sensible miles from an established dealer. :thumb:

Re the other car. Minerva Blue is rare and looks lovely. This makes the grey interior less of an issue.

Manual v Tip is obviously the bigger decision.

Enjoy the viewing(s). :thumb:

If I was after a 4S I would be talking to this guy, and booking hopefully a one way flight to Scotland... nice looking well maintained manual car with full Hartech rebuild.

Thanks for the advice guys. The black one in Scotland sounds great, especially with the rebuild. I was really hoping to avoid black cars though , for a change.

Buying from a decent trader suites me so that I can px the C4. Porticacraft is an hour away, so will view that first. Tempted to keep them all :?:

Should I be worried that fair few C4S have had an engine rebuild?

The 04 onward MY 911s inc 4Ss suddenly got given two year service intervals. It would not surprise me if that contributed to engine issues.

No reason why a 4S 3.6 would be any more or less likely to have a problem than any other 996 of the era. Arguably with turbo spec radiator cooling, they should run a bit cooler but no evidence to support my theory. I certainly wouldn't let it put me off...

Morning

Hi elan

I got my c4s from portiacraft about 8/9 months ago found them easy to do business with & the car came with a fresh service mot & warranty. Seems to me that the dealers have raised the price on the c4s over the last month or so as this is priced at 26k. the car its self look very nice & im happy with mine. Let us know how you get on after looking at the c4s.
