So, i’m Travelling down to Silverstone next week for my PEC warm up half day experience and had planned on changing back to my summer wheels, however as spring seems a way away I am toying with leaving the winters on but am a bit concerned that this may dull the experience.

Does anyone who has done this session have an opinion on this?

I realise that it is not a full blown track day but I want to make sure that I get the most out of it - In addition to this it’s still forecast to be cold and wet in the north east (where I live) for the next week or so which has me leaning towards leaving them on.

Thanks in advance.

If the temperature is due to be below 9 degrees I'd leave your winters on.

You won't be using much tread at the PEC. It's fun but nothing like a track day so you definitely want the best tyres for the conditions.

Just back from my warm up session at PEC and have to say it was a fantastic afternoon that I would definitely recommend.

The course was tailored to me and most of my time was spent on the handling tracks which gave me a better understanding, and appreciation, of what my car could do and how much higher it’s limits were than mine and also how quick the new caymans are!

The kick plate and low friction tracks are great fun but as the car was still on its winter tyres it was quite hard to induce oversteer as the car tended to push into understeer - the grip from the Pirelli Sottozero tyres was quite impressive.

I’m now looking forward to the next level course and maybe even a proper track day!
