The Silver Bullet-Resto Project

What a bloody saga these rear calipers are turning into, managed to source a replacement for the one the powder coaters fooked, so I ordered up an easy out set to try and get the nipple from the other one so a bit of heat and quenching easy out popped in. half a turn and it shears what a lot of tosh so now have a sheared easy out and seized nipple :x

Will probably need to weld a nut on as a last chance saloon before I source another caliper

On a more positive note the short shift selector has made some progress the old selector was seized solid on the shaft and has been attacked with some heat the dremel and a two leg puller and has been extremely reluctant to come off finally got the little ***** to crack off this morning :D

also got the rear shocks fitted :thumb:

Man alive Gaz, you have had your work cut out for you with this one!
A credit to you you and your ability :bandit:

Looking back I think I mentioned in September I was looking to get it to the painters in 6 weeks :hand: didn`t quite manage that however spent this morning removing the windscreen bloody murder couldn`t get the cheese wire to run as the screen sits recessed so had to break round the edge then strip the resin from the frame, now I intend to fit a new windscreen flush using later seals rather than putting the alloy trim back on and replacing the 16 clips that hold it at £8 a piece so going to have a chat with the painter tomorrow discovered some patches on the sills that will need rectified and front lower flange on the wing is foobar.

Progress, progress, progress :thumb:
What are you going to do about the dashboard Gaz?

cant make my mind up about the dashboard chief to be honest dont really mind the "patina" however Kas had pretty good results with Vinyl paint so might give that a try open to suggestions, thats a replacement screen sitting on the roof by the way.

Looking good Gaz, is it just a case of fitting a later windscreen seal? Do you cut the pins for the clips off and it's a direct fit?

Thats the plan Ian grind the pins off before it goes to the painters, the later 944 screens come with a inner moulding bonded to the screen which raises it up however the spare screen I picked up didnt have it so need to order a couple of seals as shown in this thread http://924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=27992&start=0 outer one is a 968/993 seal hoping to get these ordered up this week

Finally manged to tie the painter down and the car heads off at the end of the week when I get it back is a whole different answer.

I ordered up the seals to try and get my flush windscreen to fit which was not quite succesfull, the inner seal is fine this raises the screen flush with the frame however the screens in the later 944`s must be slightly bigger as the outer seal is too narrow to fill the gap I dont think this is a huge issue just need to get a wider seal hopefully the windscreen guy can work round this.

Also managed to pick up a mint wing that had been in storage for 20 years which saves the body man a bit of work as the drivers wing was rotted out at the front flange and was a tricky part to fabricate, no hole for either the indicator or aerial, easily solved for the indicator and glad I dont have an aerial looks neater without I am going to try one of these internal ones you stick to the window

and the hammer lying at the side was for the starter motor :D
