Hi, my wife has booked me onto the Porsche experience warm up session and I can’t wait, however, my insurance company will not cover me for the time spent on the track (even though I explained that there was no racing involved) I am currently looking around for quotes so if anyone can point me in the direction of a company that will give me a sensible quote I would be very greatful

Cheers

Paul

I've done several sessions at the PEC in my own car and in theirs and have never come anywhere near an occasion where insurance (or lack of it) has even crossed my mind.

It's a very safe environment so personally I really wouldn't bother.

Enjoy the day - I know you will. thumbsup

I completely agree with what T8 says. I’ve done a couple of experience days and you drive in a safe environment and within your comfort zone (although they encourage you to expand it within the limits of the car). If your car is safe and well maintained you should not have any need to worry.

You can get track insurance but it tends to be expensive if you buy on an event to event basis. There are policies which cover road and track but they are more expensive than road policies but work out cheaper if you do a few track based events each year. Porsche Club GB have a link with Locktons Insurance and include this type of cover.

Enjoy your day Thumb

Thanks for the replies, think I’m going to give the insurance a miss.

Just for info, the 2 quotes that I’ve had so far we’re for £277 and £349 and both had excesses of £3k!

Cheers

Paul

£3K doesn’t seem too bad, all the policies i’ve had have an excess of 10% of vehicle value.

PS, Fine choice of car and colour Wink

The Warm Up is road driving focussed and for overall experience and immersion into the Porsche brand the PEC is great but imho if you want to improve your driving skills I think CAT Driver training is better. They’re a forum sponsor and run specific 911UK days - have a look at some of the threads.

When I went their focus was very much on what you want to achieve (road or track goals) and they managed expectations very well. They use Millbrook which gives a greater variety of circuits and instruction e.g banked circuit, mile straight, alpine road, track. I felt I accomplished more as driver than at the PEC Warm Up. The way the day builds as your confidence improves was great for me.
