Where are all the OEM Clubsport front part of the roll cages

Should have checked there first !
maybe not :)

Think of it as a long term investment. In 10-15 years when they stop making them you will have produced one of the lucky few (as above) . People like me are relying on people like you to buy them :D

I wonder if with the advent ot the 'new' market for GT3/RS ie those who dont mind an 'automatic' non 'stick' race car, will there be an increase in the number of Comfort specification GT cars.

I'm still tempted....

if only just to try and work out where all the parts go together ! :?:

Moving house & 2 babies eating up time is putting me off a bit though

Already happened. Although slightly balanced off by those who really want a comfy but have re sale paranoia

hi all,

not sure if this is bad form- mods can delete if so- but i have a front cage for 997 gt3 /rs and am selling it- in the forsale section on here.

thought i would bump/resurrect this thread as i had looked through it when searching out information about mine

cheers

Its an interesting thread this. The question on the 991 and even GT4 front cages interests me, never seen either fitted.

Is there a Ti front version for the Weissach cars, and even a carbon front version planned for 992 GT3 RS?

I have a 996.1 GT3, originally a comfort car, but was built as a Clubsport when I bought it and came with the full factory cage. I dont have the front fitted, its stored.

Having seen some of the reviews by Catchpole I am sure he mentions the Ti frame as part of the Weissach pack on the 991 and then the latestest iteration RS has the carbon fibre frame.

Mine too was a comfort 996.2 GT3 that has been converted. Subsequently worth £2.50

Correct on all points P (but not about your car being worth £2.50) :)

I see no fixing points to attach front cage sections to this OE Ti 991 GT3RS Weissach pack roll cage :

Ditto the carbon version for the 992.
So I'm guessing no such front cage sections are/were or will be available for either material. But that's only a guess ...
I guess they could be gaffer taped to the rear sections, or perhaps use some old, rusty scaffolding clamps ?

Ah Henry, it does look as though there are threaded holes at the top of the frame in that picture and I assume the bottom would be rather like the door side bars in the 996/997 .the scaffolding you mention.

I am sure Porsche would have it covered but with all these leather seats and contrast stitching maybe the 'hat tip' to the Porsche Cup cars is over. :?

Your missing the point... a carbon cage means you can spec extended leather, a core technical component of a Porsche GT car without a mass penalty

My apologies P, I couldn't resist. That was a trick and somewhat naughty and misleading statement (and image) that I posted. I thought you'd see the holes and figure they were for attaching the front sections... and I regret to say you fell for it HL&S

You're eyes aren't deceiving you, you can indeed see two holes, but ... they're not threaded, they're the tops of the tubes that enable the bolting together of the rear leg section with the main hoop. These images/ angles should make matters more clear :

Cage fab does look very nicely done (check out those welds up close) definitely carried out by an outside specialist, and not done by Porsche AG ...
