Failed Emissions

i suppose looking at the damage, the assessor must think that it could end up bigger than the value because brakes could be burnt etc, or the garage could get halfway through the job and keep wanting more, they paid out to wash their hands of it in my opinion.

The car was from Hamilton Grays. It is really nice and alot faster than my C4S. Has the two tone grey and black interior which i really like. Only negative is, it is quiet compared with the PSE. Maybe needs a louder exhaust :)

I had it inspected by the poscheinspector and there are a couple of small jobs: The TPMS needs new wheel sensors that i have ordered today. The tandem pump is rusty but not leaking.
The only other thing is that the clutch is heavy when the engine is off, which i'm guessing is the accumulator. Is it ok to leave it for now as the clutch works fine????
:?:

Watching the CCTV video it was smoking from underneath for 5 minutes then on fire for another 5, so body was fine and brakes ect are untouched. (annoying as it just had new discs and pads with refurbished calipers.Yes the Insurance company said that it would at least need a new engine, wiring loom and maybe ecu. So it would not be worth fixing as there would most likely be other electrical things.

Glazey, this is an absolutely crazy story, couldn't make it up, in a way I can see why you would need a new engine or at least a rebuild. A lot of plastic parts would've melted and made it inside through the inlet side of it.I still cant believe that silicone sealer was used to seal the joints, unless of course its a new type and not fit for bathrooms :-O
On a positive note the Turbo looks fantastic :) you must be well pleased with it.
Well done.

Swamps :)

Sad news but hey you know got a turbo!! Put a Kline on it that will make you smile 👍👍 lovely colour any pics of the interior??

Very sorry to see that. Onwards and upwards.

Oh My God

Im so sorry this happened , just be thankfull it wasnt in a garage attatched to your house !

Not really worth much now but the fire seems to have started at the back of the alternator .. main power lead is there .. and from the look of the rubbers it was a slow build up of heat which would also be consistant with an electrical fault .

Debris in the engine and from water / fire extinguisher .. plus its safer to say a new engine than find out dureing the repair that it needs one .

Dme / ecu would also be toast .

I was going to ask that if it was an OPC down south then please pm me who as i certainly dont want to end up working with someone that uses silicone on an exhaust .. but i think its much furtrher North .

Only thing i can add .. no chance of a mouse nest where it lives is there ?

Thanks for all your replies.

I do love the turbo, looking forward to the good weather. Maybe too fast for me

I don't think there was a mouses nest in there, i spent a lot of time cleaning everything and had it up on ramps quite a few times. The Insurance company said it might be from the sparks off the wire brush?????

Going to get the center console trimmed in leather by Designls when i have a few spare £££ as my old cars was leather.

Some more turbo pictures:
