Battery on the way out?

The information above is from the handbook.

I never said it wasn't. But reading it, its obvious there are caveats with a jump start process as per Porsche.

I had a discharged battery in first year of ownership from car standing idle.
Rang my specialist and he cautioned me as I have cautioned here and advised me to put a CTEK charger on it and try once the charger lights said its ready.

If it didn't start, he said he'd come out to jump start it or change the battery due to the process - which he knows and does not need to read from the handbook as he was Porsche-trained technician before he set up on his own.

Luckily it started after time on the CTEK so a call-out was not needed, but to this day, I remember his advice not to attempt to jump start it without following the handbook procedure and to make sure any breakdown specialist reads and knows the procedure (he knows examples of owners who'd blown their ECU from attempting a jump start).

Guys, Guys, you`re all getting a little technical here, our beloved Kimbo is an artist, not an engineering wizard, he just wants to know if his battery is goosed

Kimbo, let Demort check it for you in his lunch hour, you run the risk of serious damage to electronic systems in your car if you fanny about with something you`re not comfortable with :thumb:

Still loving the Rat look Cayman

Thank you mate, might be the best solution.

But I do appreciate the posts. Thanks chaps.

What type of artist? :drink:

I jump started mine the other week. Strictly following the handbook (which is logical anyway), and all was fine.

Why not fit a simple and cheap voltage protector ? Such as the 'Kemo M168 Car Voltage Spike Protector' this will protect the electrics at all times including a wayward alternator, protect LED's etc.

So you just connect that little box to the battery terminals?
