Looking ahead to 2018, help is it nearly that year already

As part of my "fix it before it breaks" plan, I intend to replace the gear change cables.
I have done a bit of research and there are lots of options, from GT3 type to Numeric and a shed load in-between.

Has anyone got very recent experience on where and what to buy and who from?
:?:

I've got the 997.2 GT3 shifter & have been looking into the 996 Cup Car cables but have read several threads about noise & vibration increasing as they remove the rubber end fittings. I missed a few gears on a trackday at Goodwood earlier this week which possibly could have been avoided with better cables but I'm not sure yet if the Cup cables would really be worth it on a predominately road car.

I did mine a couple of years ago and just used the OEM Porsche ones - pretty straight forward job.
