I started this post and I should explain my tale in trying to get cover.
I called Carole Nash (insured with them since 2007, all my three classics and since 1996-2006 with my bikes) in February this year asking for a potential quote for a 993 I hoped to purchase and was politely informed that I could not get cover because I had never owned a Porsche previously. They would only quote for a driver with 4-5 years experience of driving such cars. I tried to explain I was not a 25 year old and would not be tear-arsing around, no points, accidents or convictions, still the computer said no! After getting off the phone I was furious and called back later, explained what I had been told and was promptly given the same answer. After trying to reason with them I suggested my renewal for my two Mercedes in June and October would being going elsewhere, that is when I was offered a call back and after a day or so I was given what I thought was a reasonable quote, due to 'being a long term loyal customer".
As things turned out that particular car got sold and I started looking again and in May found the car I wanted. All I had to do was call CN back and arrange cover? wrong, the manager I had originally dealt with had left and I was back to square one, lack of driving experience etc.
After more threats of leaving CN completely, call backs etc a policy was arranged to commence in June however it took nearly 3 months to get an agreed valuation, they blamed the changed of reg number, I will be looking probably at a Porsche specialist broker next year.
