Performance Driver 'Track' Day
An action-packed day run by CAT Driver Training Ltd at Millbrook Proving Ground.

CAT Driver Training is run by Colin and Jo Hoad. Colin used to work for a leading motor manufacturer in the UK as a Vehicle Evaluator and Driver Trainer and has gained extensive experience and qualifications in driver instruction. His life has been spent working with his passion: motor cars - from racing minis to the race preparation of performance cars. He has much experience of vehicles on both road and track and brings a very different approach to driver enjoyment.

Our training is engineering based which is what gives us our USP - no one else in the country has the knowledge - they may claim it, but the proof is in the training. We're also well versed in the Porsche brand. Be assured you will be working with a company that understands the technical systems installed by the manufacturers and the effect they have on the car, with the inputs you need to make.

The day is a fast moving experience for a 3 owners only on this date in their cars to introduce the secrets of performance driving. It is designed to be informative, exciting and fun. The group size is purposefully kept small so that the maximum can be obtained from the day in a highly personalised environment.

There is access to the 5 unique circuits at the renowned Millbrook Proving Ground, a venue that is not normally accessible for 'track days' and the general public.

Activities designed for the different circuits are:
- Learn threshold braking from high speed on the Mile Straight
- High speed driving, potentially to the maximum of your car, on the banked circuit of the High Speed Circuit
- Drive the demanding Alpine Route circuit with its hills, and variety of corners from hairpins to long and sweeping
- Take on the tight, twisty and challenging Handling Circuit
- Put your car through its paces on the open spaces of the Steering Pad/Mile Straight Apron

An instructor will accompany you on all the circuits, and the objective is to teach you how to get the best from your car and develop your performance driving skills in a controlled environment and at a pace you are comfortable with.

Short presentations in vehicle dynamics will help you to understand the relationship between driver input and vehicle balance and control. From this comes the appreciation of how to safely drive your vehicle at grip limit within the controlled confines of a track environment.

At the end of the day, your new found skills can be put to the test in a timed shoot out around a gymkhana-style course laid out on the Steering Pad/Mile Straight Apron.

Included in the day are:
- Professional in car tuition
- Access to 5 unique circuits at Millbrook Proving Ground
- Lunch and refreshments during the day
- Timed end of day shoot out
- Full emergency services on hand all day
- 1 hour 40 minutes driving time with your personal instructor

Pricing is as follows:
3 participating members = £400 pp as CAT is restricting the group size

Cheers Jo. Really looking forward to the day :thumb:

Thanks Colin & Jo for the day, and nice meeting you John and Rupert.

Rupert your car is beautiful, and Congratulations John for being the quickest driver of the weekend

It's always nice to spend a day with an instructor, learning and also discovering things that I don't do so well. Just need more track time now.

'til next time folks, cheers!

What an enjoyable day, lots of fun and I learnt a lot too. It was a pleasure to meet fellow enthusiast and 911UKers, YK and Rhino-Man.

Colin was an excellent trainer, he spent time building rapport and trust. At the beginning he asked each of us what our objectives were, he managed our expectations and individually tailored his delivery to each of us to achieve them. I particularly enjoyed his delivery and the way he gave us technical explanation for why were using the techniques he taught. I would not hesitate in recommending the course to anyone thinking of tracking their car.

Congratulations to Rhino 'faster than 1,000hp" Man for a stunning lap time on the handling circuit and YK for his consistency. I'll console myself with the mints (in the hope that it wasn't some kind of unsubtle hint :floor:).

Thanks to Colin for his skill and patience, Jo for her organising and both for their good humour and professionalism.

PS. YK, you're car's not too shabby either :thumb:

Lovely to meet you all & to read your happy reviews :)

Our pleasure to spend the day with you & for Colin, an enjoyable time developing your technique to meet your individual objectives.

Congratulations to Y2K for winning the Consistency Challenge  - remnants of Storm Brian scuppered the gymkhana again. To Rhino-man for Driver of the Day  & Cameo for winning the mint tins :thumb:

Your pic is now on the gallery

Thank you for your enthusiasm & interest in advancing your knowledge & skills ... hope to see you again.

Bit late but wanted to share my thanks to everyone for a great day.

Having done a few track days these year and not being frightened of pushing my car a little harder than most seem to, my main consideration for going was more to see and drive some of the famous bits of Millbrook more than the instruction.
That said, Colin managed to identify some bits I could improve and I definitely left very satisfied with my progress, probably enhanced by getting the fastest lap of the weekend :D sorry @FRP

To quote Colin "Faster than 1000HP"
