Aghhh .. i was trying to figure out if your house was prone to flooding or not .. bags are to chock the wheels ..

I can sleep happy tonight after being told this :D

:floor: yep... bags and sleepers to chock the wheels... I'm slightly paranoid It's going to roll off somewhere

I've decided to do the rear disc's and pads whilst I've got the wheels off to bleed the brakes.... :dont know: easy peasey what could possibly go wrong :?:

great thread Paul :stay:

Cheers Phil

Well I just had time to take one wheel off... I could be wrong but shouldn't there be something covering this bit up :?: like a heat shield or arch liner...

What could go wrong .. hmm .. caliper bolts seized !

If they dont crack off then easily come out then you might want to leave this for another day .

Oh and nope there is no liner there .

And of course the hurricane... I've just had to fetch our barbecue indoors because ithe had blown across the garden
If anyone is in the East Midlands and see's 3 wheeled C4S being blown away with a flustered looking chap clutching on to it for dear life.... That will be me... feel free to give me a wave :bye:

Light went strange today and we got a blood sun but we seem to have been passed by no rain just a bit of wind . hope no car damage happened to the rest of you :thumb:

OK so after surviving apocalyptic sky's, hurricanes and a storm called Brian...I finally got round to doing a little more... drivers side rear Disc's and pads changed and drop link replaced :)

So onto the other side....

Well the passenger side started off perfectly... the pads came out no problem.... loosened the disc with the impact driver again worked a dream....
Filled with more optimism than the only teenage boy at a all girl disco... I decided to go for the nipples
And..and.. it came undone really easily :eh!:
Quick get a new nipple in whilst it's going well...
Put the new one in... it seems to small for the hole...I check the size against the old one.. and this was stuck on the old one.....

It appears to be the remains of a helicoil... the rest of it crumbled as I removed it from the old nipple.... S#it..
I've decided I'm going to repair it with a timesert insert.... I've used them before many years ago on motorcycles so I'm hoping fingers crossed this will work
:frustrated:

If you have to drill the caliper then be very carefull , you only need to nick the taper at the base and it will never seal again .

It also needs to be mounted and a pillar drill used really ..

I would tend to advise here that you get a speacialist to do this unless your really good at this sort of thing .. and i know i aint .. i would break it !

No offense young man :)

None taken  To be honest it is already drilled and tapped from the previous helicoil job... It will be more cleaning the threads and using a solid insert instead of a wire one.... If it needs any form of power tool using I promise I'll quit... I do believe it or not I have a pillar drill though but I won't be using it  :thumb:

Bless you !

Well all i can say is good luck and i hope it works ..

once done then clean it off and engine running hold the brake pedal on for 30 seconds at least .. then inspect for any fluid around the nipple .. i have seen very slow leaks in the past .. if you dont know about it then the fluid leak will rot away the wheel paint , caliper paint and possibly the body work before you realise as a slow leak is not always obvious .
