The hunt begins for my 911, my cars sold and gone now.
So what I've decided on with my budget (20-28k ish) is realistically a gen 1 3.8 manual.
The options and extras I've not fully decided so I'll see what's on offer with what at the time, I'm struggling for time till the end of the month now so that's killing me looking and not been able to get somat. Then again I'm not sure if I'll use it over winter or it can go cuddle my mk1 golf in the garage.
I starting reading up on the 997's and I'd seen a buying guide about checking the bores and ims so just took it as its the 997 weak point all cars have then and this is the 911's
I then joined this forum years ago and started reading all the horror story's and it put me off a little till I read up on hartechs rebuild but in reality bore scoring isn't as much of a massive issue it's made out to be as you know only effecting some.
So I'm stuck between deciding on a low mileage example or a hartech rebuilt one but of course I can't make a decision as I'm not in a position to pull the trigger on one. I'd like your opinion on that though.
So could we have this thread as a positive one about gen 1 cars?
There must be loads of gen 1 owners out there on original engines having no problems!!
Of course I've read if it's an early one it needs to 1k ims doing so budget that in if it's not been done.
