Despite the spelling, does anyone know if these guys are any good? I need to locate a reputable garage for an MOT for my 997.2.

I'm based in North London, and found these guys via quick Google. If anyone has any experience of these guys, or can recommend another reputable garage in the vicinity, please share your infinite wisdom.

Thanks!

Sid at Porsche-Torque is well regarded on here, he is based out Uxbridge way.
Portiacraft at Mill Hill Circus are a well known outfit.
JAZ, they used to be based at Wembley, they are now just of the A405, South of St Albans.
OPC Hatfield.

Of those listed, I only know that Hatfield carry out their own MOT. Might be worth checking if the others outsource the test or do it themselves.

You won't go wrong with Sid at Porsche Torque

Just an MOT? You don't need a porsche specialist for an MOT.

However, for work on your car, look up Matt at Porschacare, he was head mechanic at Portiacraft for 15+ years and is based in Welwyn Garden City just up the A1, and knows more about 911's than anyone I've come across.

btw, people like this can't use "Porsche" in their name, hence them being Porche or Porscha......

I had them look over my leaky exhaust on my 996 before, Andy seems to know his stuff. Didn't actually get any work done (fitted a new exhaust instead) but my impression was positive. I don't think they're the cheapest but you're paying for the central(ish) London location.

For an MoT however I'd just go to kwik fit for £25 and view your car being Mot'd.

Another +1 for Sid.

I've used PorcheTech several times, excellent service and Andy and the team there are very good. They're my indy of choice.

Kwikfit - £25, and normally a couple of £s back if you book through quidco.

An MOT is the same whether you have a Yaris or a 997.2!

Surely they would be able to spell Porsche correctly? :dont know:

I usually use Halfords, never had a problem or been recommended work that didn't need doing.

BTW I doubt PorcheTech will have the ability to give you an MOT, they will just drive it to a local MOT station and charge you for the privilege.

In the last 8 years, I have failed once on a bulge in one tyre, and once was "quietly told" my number plate light was out, and to have it changed straight away - perhaps it depends on which branch and how decent the Tester is.

I live in North London (N10) and took my car to JAZ for the MOT. Portiacraft are nearer but JAZ have always looked after my Porsches since they were based in Wembley.

JAZ take it to a local garage on the same industrial estate for the MOT. So you're probably wondering why pay JAZ when I could take it anywhere for half the price. Well it's because if it fails on anything I will leave it with them to sort out and they will get the re-test done.

Yes, I pay for the privilege but I don't have the time to be traipsing from one place to another.
