Need some input on getting some 20" Gen 2 Turbo alloys for my car. I've seen a set for sale on flea bay but they do have some damage so will need complete refurb, I'm told they are genuine Porsche wheels, I mean who on ebay would lie about that!
There are no TPMS fitted so mine will need removing refitting, is this wise/easy?
I currently have the 19" std wheels and seeing the 20" ones I know they will look much better.
Anyone know what a new 20" gen rim costs? I've seen prices of £1200 per corner, is this about right?
Am I right in thinking you can run without TPMS and just normal valves?
Thanks

The TPMS can be disabled by OPC/specialist in the gen 1 assume its the same with a gen2

To my knowledge the turbo 2 alloys were only available as a 19 inch on the 911 turbo gen 2? Maybe they are copy or from a panamera?

Be prepared to ruin the ride quality!!!!

Nick, I know some guys run 20s mate, but I have always been told to avoid doing it in a 997 as it ruins the ride. give it lots of thought mate as it could be a step too far to improve the stance. :thumb:

I had thought about this but as they run the same profile tyres I didn't think it would be to the determent of the ride quality.
The wheels are off a Panamera.

Thank you 'Yoda'

If they run the same profile on a 20" wheel your rolling circumference will be all out mate.

I've looked at them again and they're really in not great shape and after the advice I'll give them a miss.
Still think it would look great with a set of 20"'s on! :thumb:

don't bother removing your TPMS sensors, leave those alone.

I bought a new set of 3rd party ones for my second set of alloys and just ensured they were running the same frequency as my OEM original ones.

I had these fitted along with my new tyres and my car learned/accepted them within 5 miles of driving, worked perfect since.

As others have said the 20" gen 2 turbo look 20"s are for panamera hence the different/wrong for a turbo profiles (probably the wrong offsets also ?

For the 997.1 Turbo
With 20" fronts are 235/30 and rears 305/25
With 19" fronts are 235/35 and rears 305/30

TBH with 20" the PASM in sport mode with dampers on is just too crashy, infact its just general better IMO on 19" in all modes.

If its to improve the stance I think 19" and lowered is the way to go.

Nick..whatever you decide mate don't you worry I'll look after your gen 2 wheels free of charge when you get your new rims,I'll put them on my car so you can still see them from time to time.

I've got your back buddy.

I sense a Carlsberg-like quote coming... if carlsberg made mates...

Why do you want to fit 20" wheels on the 997.2 turbo?

I've got 20" wheels on my M4 competition pack however wouldn't have considered fitting the same size wheels on my 997.2 turbo.

How ads you getting on with the Sharkworks exhaust?
