E46 M3 opinion

I keep on thinking about an E46 M3 but not in place of the 997, I have an Imola red 330i E46 M Sport touring with a high spec and probably about the cleanest example you will see, it is very capable and ticks a lot of boxes, been tempted a couple of times to go look at M3' s with a view to trading.
A friend of mine managed to buy a late model M3 in black and mint for 8 and a bit K a couple of years ago, a very straight car indeed.
