997.2 PDK bleeder screw slight leak?

New screw getting fitted. We'll see if it cures it...

On further inspection, new screw isn't going to solve it. New box is. They did say they'd never come across this before though so maybe not such a common problem. I'm intrigued to know how damage could have been done to a totally internal seal inside a sealed unit. :?

Any suggestions for other work that ought to be done while transmission (and possibly engine) is out?

If I've been warned that the coupling of the cooling system are corroding (as they are well known to) is the fix for that something that requires engine out? I was sure I'd read that on here at some point. If so, it might be worth seeing whether I could sort that at the same time. I realise that usually Porsche will refuse to deal with issues that are close to being at a point of needing replacement just because it is easier and instead tend to make you wait until something has gone wrong, even if it is more costly and disruptive to do so, but it's worth a try???

Thanks for all your help so far. It's so much less stressful going into these situations with a fair understanding of likely outcome :)

It's not really a sealed unit, it's more that Porsche never work on them. A ZF specialist should be able to fix one.

I don't think they dropped the engine to do my gearbox, though the reverse was certainly true.

Ok thanks. I'll see what they say.

Yes, sorry, been away. New box fitted. Took a while as there are a number of software dependencies that needed ironing out. Seems to run OK but I'm getting a lot of vibration in the cabin - can feel it through the drivers seat - well everything actually - when sitting at idle, say in a traffic queue. I wonder whether something hasn't been mounted quite right when it's been put back together...

I've reported this but haven't had chance to take it back in :-(

They updated all the various bits of software on mine when they fitted the new box.

I do get some vibration at tickover, but mine is a known side-effect of the Sharkwerks bypass pipe with PDK cars.

I haven't had much chance to drive mine since the work was done - have you noticed any improvement or change since the software updates? They said mine was the original software as it came out of the factory 7 years ago.

The way it works at low speed, like parking, the way it holds the gears up a hill. These improved with the updates.

Re your post about pdk leak.
I have done about 12k now since mine started to sweat/weep.
Sealant appears to have stopped what I think was gear oil that appeared to be seating/ weeping from the breeder screw.
Thinking of emailing ZF direct re purpose of bleeder screw. Almost don't want to know.
Obviously I am not happy but no warranty to pay for new £14k box.
Car going great so just enjoying every drive.
62k miles and counting.
09 Carrera C2.

New gearbox is not £14k, don't believe the hype.

So what approx price does everyone think for supply and install new pdk to a 997.2 C2?

Hey man, Cheers for that.

I agree if i can trace where its actually leaking from and if its definitely that plug. I'm sure popping it out and some sealant will sort it out good and proper!

Replacing a gearbox seems awfully extreme in some cases for the sake of a leaky seal....
