Hi, so I had the dreaded 2nd gear pop out problem occurring almost every time I drove the car, usually happens on the overrun and when cold. Didn't like the idea (cost actually) of a gearbox rebuild so thought I would try the upgraded detente solution as advertised by G-box and made stateside, guess what it works, my indie fitted it in under an hour, happy days!!, I would certainly say give it a go if you suffer the same problem.

Sounds like a good fix

What was the price?

I managed to find one on eBay in Glasgow, it was up for £195 but I got it for a best offer price of £167.50, my guy charged £40 for the hour to fit.

That kit masks an underlying problem and does not fix it correctly, according to some.
There is a thread about it somewhere on here...

Talk to Mike at Sports & Classic and he is of the view it "overthrows" the gear putting more pressure on the other gears. Long term this could lead to needing other new gears on the mainshaft - leaving to a gearbox strip and rebuild with more parts required = more expensive solution.

There is a thread on this from Mike.

The GBox detente can work if caught early but is unlikely to work if there is crunching on 2nd gear from pop out that has been ignored.

Indys differ on their view of this detente spring solution.

Yes I have read that on a couple of other forums, funny though no stories of huge failures after this hopeful fix. To be honest just happy the pop out has gone away for now.
