Last year I bought an 02 996 turbo full Porsche service history 90k miles on a Cat D. I have a list of receipts for all the Porsche parts that were supplied for the fix which was not a lot it's amazing how insurers write cars like this off but in fairness the parts are not cheap looking at the invoices. I only paid £20k which to me even as a Cat D was a reasonable price to pay. It is a silver car as lots are but I knew when I bought it I would have it wrapped anyway. The wrap itself is great except they damaged the ram arms on the rear spoiler but of course denied it so I ended up after big fall outs with a bill for over a grand at Ninemeister! I bought a new titanium exhaust off the 911uk forum at half price as the guy never fitted it and again at half price a set of front GT3 discs and calipers from the forum. The car felt very gutless when I got it so while it was at Ninemeister I had Wayne from Chips Wizard tune it on their rolling road he found a pipe off one of the turbos and now after the session it has close to 500bhp what a difference!

I have put 4 new tyres on it and had all the interior trim carbon dipped and the metal paddle steering wheel conversion done. I had the seats all covered in new leather with matching red inserts and have retained the original sat nav etc but instead of the multi disc changer I have a Bluetooth connector. The original Bose system in the car sounds great. Since the pics I have bought new side skirts and had them painted gloss black. The car drives great sounds awesome and the new front brakes have transformed the car as it's originals were very poor for such a quick car.

I realise I have spent a fair bit on the car it now stands me at around £30k but I don't think I will lose much in fact if I keep it a few years it should increase in value even being a Cat D Tiptronic.... Well that's what I am telling myself ?? One pic side on has no turbo decals it was taken before I had put them on..

Good work and I like the changes.

Any more pics of the whole car?

How you getting on with the body wrap, is it easy to keep clean ?

Yeah I am sick of grey and black cars the red and yellow 996 cars seem to bring a small premium so others must think likewise I do realise not to everyone's taste. The wrap is a doddle to keep clean and is wearing great plus if I ever wanted to revert it back to original I can unlike a paint job. I have a GT3 but that is more of an investment it's great when the revs are up but as an everyday car the turbo is a lot easier to live with.

Was already off the map being a CatD, anything is fair game now..

Not to my liking though, I like to have something to shine, I enjoy the polish and wax process too much.
I'm all for doing some mods though... :)
