Targa Hatch Stuck

Haven't driven her much recently as been stuck on overseas assignments but tried to pop the hatch on the Targa and nothing happened. Cant even hear the locking mechanism. No luck with remote or internal switch :(

Any thoughts?

Driver's side window drop switch and side light bulb :nooo:

Oil leak from tiptronic transfer case

What I thought was my tiptronic oil pan gasket has turned out to be an oil leak from the transfer case.

From what I understand this is down to worn gearbox mount.

Anyone know where the best place to get a replacement is?

So last time it was water pump, now it appears I have to drain the coolant again to get to the transfer case to change the gasket.....

Soon it will be all sorted and i know what will happen.....upgrade time.

To be fair not a lot, but I did take it for a run to Norfolk this weekend and it did seem to get quite warm in traffic, just past the '0' in the 80, not having used it a lot, I'm not sure if this is normal, but then it started to hesitate and spit a bit pulling away ( rather exciting when pulling into a roundabout, when it semi dies then picks up) When we got onto the open the open road it started flying again and was ok. Not sure if these two things are related. ihave a low temp thermostat and it sits just below 80 on the mway)

Anyone else get a spitty 996 in traffic?
.
Well to compound it all got stuck in more traffic this weekend and had the ignominy of conking out, managed to roll to the side.
After a few mins restarted ok, got home and read 0441, 1125 and 1123 codes. Also my short term fuel trim both banks was 21% at idle but zero ( correct) above that which points to air leak. Sure enough the evap purge valve was stuck open, so I was gaining some air and also vacuuming the fuel tank. Blocked it off and I'm back to zero at idle. Ordered a new one, hope it sorts it.

Windscreen washer today. Water pouring all over the floor instead of spraying the window. Fortunately the pipe had just come off where it goes from the tank to bulkhead.

Well mine's thrown up an interesting one....

4 months of no use except occasional fire up in the garage to keep things fluid.

Got 1 mile from home and things started going bandy. Engine started to run rough - like a bag of spanners - kept going as was on a main road. Managed to crawl up a mild hill to find a residential road without double yellows. Engine now sounding really blowy. Engine stalls, I coast to the side of the road. Will fire up, just, but stalls pretty quickly and you have to pump the accelerator to keep the engine going.

Bizarrely the dash was coming up with a load of warnings: check engine, drive to workshop, ABS failure, seats failure, wheels failure..... almost endless list. This makes me think it's electrical. It's with a specialist now who have said that it has thrown up a cam fault on a diagnostic so far.

Any ideas?

PS: it's had a new IMS bearing and the cylinders have been checked.

Coil packs possibly or given all the faults bad earth connection on to the engine....

Battery a possibility but it's less common for them to go at this time of year.Get the specialist to check it's charging properly too, the fault you describe matches what happens if the alternator fails and the battery discharges and the voltage goes low.

You don't recall what the volt meter was reading at the time by any chance?

Mac

Battery unlikely as you say it starts fine. Also unlikely to be alternator as for these faults the battery would be discharged by now if the alternator was not charging it.

I can report that my old girl has been good as gold until the unit on the back of the key barrel failed in France. Gave me a right fright as I sat there with the key in my hand but the dash saying the key was still in the ignition. Even more of a fright when the key wouldn't go back in!

Well after much wiggling it did go back in and with a bit of technique it was possible to remove the key and have the car understand the key was out.

Cheap part and Sid at Porsche Torque changed it in a jiffy. Now all is well with the world again.

I really wish I hadn't read that.......I'm off there next week.

The motor has been sat dormant for 4 months as I had an op that meant I couldn't drive it. The battery did go flat a couple of times and when I recharged it the the other day my 'intelligent' charger said at one point that it thought the battery was kaputt.

I did do a scan of all the dials as we were experiencing the 'turbulence' and volts were normal, temp normal and oil pressure good. A mystery.

I'm rather hoping that as my steed kept going - even up a hill at one part - that this won't be something catastrophic. Even though it sounds bloomin' awful now. :dont know:
